Our website was way out of date. We had an earlier version of EE installed at http://www.ourusualURL.org which we continued to operate while we developed a new one. The new site, during build, was accessed by admin at http://www.temp.ourusualURL.org in which we installed a new EE everything license that we purchased in November 2016.

During test, EE messages appeared to be generated as expected. Upon go-live, we traded the two URL, so the new site, now publicly visible would have the regular name and the site taken off line was assigned the temp name.

Messages are no longer working. Invoices are not being generated. I’m in a panic and need help. I am not a programmer and need technical help. How do I get it? I’ve purchased a token.

Hi there,

During test, EE messages appeared to be generated as expected. Upon go-live, we traded the two URL, so the new site, now publicly visible would have the regular name and the site taken off line was assigned the temp name.

Can you post the exact steps taken to do this please?

Messages are no longer working.

Are the not being generated at all? If you look within Event Espresso -> Messages -> Message activity do you see a list of messages there?

Invoices are not being generated.

Re you sure the Invoice are not being generated and not just linking to the incorrect locations (which shows an issue with how the site was ‘switched’). They generate very early in the process so this would be very unusual.

I’ve purchased a token.

Have you redeemed the token within your account page?

Click the link to redeem the token in the right sidebar and provide all of the details requested, we can then investigate this further.

Hi Nileen,

We received your priority support request. Can you double check the FTP information you sent? The reason I ask is because I logged into that server and WordPress isn’t installed there. Maybe those are the FTP credentials for someone else’s site?

> I’d also like the people mover feature added, if that is possible. I purchased it in the package last November.

The Attendee Mover add-on is already installed on your site. You can activate it by going to WP > Plugins, then click Activate where it’s listed there. You can also use the one click update feature to update Event Espresso 4 to the current version.

We can investigate the messages issue but we will need the correct FTP credentials to do so.

Here’s what I have:

** redacted **

If need be, I’ll go back to the source who sent me this this morning.

Please do not post anything here that will help anyone viewing this topic to gain access to your website. That’s why we have a secure form for sending these things privately. (This is a public forum).

If you can the correct information, please resend it with the redeem a support token form.

Hi Nileen,

When we FTP in, we see this:

https://www.evernote.com/shard/s4/sh/ce2e269d-763b-4591-918b-2cc6dfae6e97/4720b4c8c5caa965

You’ll note that in the above screenshot there isn’t any files or folders wp-, or a folder with Event Espresso, or Divi.

If you can get the correct credentials, please send us those. There is no need to re-send the incorrect credentials again. In the meantime, I’ve switched the Messages settings to send on same request, which may help if you’d like to test a registration.

Hi Nileen,

Looking further, some of the messages are blank. I will check them out in the morning.

Hi there,

Which emails are blank? Is it random or always the same message type?

What is the ‘subject’ for one of the blank messages?

Alas. it appeared the blank email was because the default messages were also blank.
I have now copied all of the messages from the old install to the new one. I sent test messages to myself for each and they appear to be working.

I got several registrations today and the generated message is not working properly. Rather than being able to click on the link and see an invoice, they are seeing a list of courses.

This is frustrating, in that all of the default messages in my new EE4 license were blank once the website was moved from temp status to the regular URL. I thought I could copy over messages from the original website with its original EE messages, but this has not proved successful.

How to I access the EE drafted default messages to see if I can fix this? Is there any time left on my voucher to create the message that confirms registration and provides the link to the invoice?

Hi there,

I just logged back in with the credentials you sent and everything I checked with the messages and invoices is working correctly. Can you post the URL of the link that’s not working correctly? Also do you know which message type has the incorrect invoice URL?

Bear with me…
on July 18 & 19, several people registered for a course. This triggered the Registration Pending Payment message http://www.topspf.org/wp-admin/admin.php?page=espresso_messages&action=edit_message_template&id=5&edit_message_template_nonce=7ef97d514a&return=global_mtps

The message contains a link “you can make payment here”
That brings up the registration checkout (that they should have already seen during the registration process) that offers them the option for invoice or PayPal. If they do not want to pay via PayPal, they click on invoice me (should I have a pay by check option here?)

If they click on invoice me, they are asked to update payment options – again given the option of invoice me or Paypal. If they check invoice me and update payment options, a new page appears that has a box that says “Congratulations
Your registration has been successfully processed.
Check your email for your registration confirmation or click the button below to view / download / print a full description of your purchases and registration information.” The box has a big blue button labeled “View Full Order Confirmation Receipt” When I click on that – it takes a very long time for a blank display to appear.
If my purchaser is patient enough to click on the back browser, return to the page holding that big blue button and continue scanning down the page, they will eventually see a link to view the invoice. If they get that far and click on that link, the invoice does appear and looks to be correct.
How do I just deliver them an invoice, when they click invoice me?

You can add the
[INVOICE_LINK] shortcode to the Registration Pending Payment message template. Then when they get the Registration Pending Payment email, they’ll see a link that they can click to view the invoice.

I do not see how to do that.

You can follow these steps to add a shortcode to the Registration Pending Payment message template:

1) You go to Event Espresso > Messages
2) You click on the “Default Message Templates” tab
3) There you will see a list of message types. You want to edit the Registration Pending payment type. So you’ll scroll to that message type’s row and you’ll click on the link that says “Primary Registrant”
4) There you will see a template editor where you’ll copy this:
[INVOICE_LINK]
and paste where you want the link to download the invoice to appear within the email message
