Hi – Also related to recurring events, since the system does not allow open ended registration – at least with specific dates, I have created some events with a year long registration period. Since I had an issue with duplicating an event and it not doing what I thought it would do, I’m concerned about amending these events for the next year. I am hoping that I can just edit the listing when the time comes and change the dates (registration dates as well as event starts and ends) to accommodate a new year without compromising anything. (Change all events in series.) Would it mess with the previous registration records? Should I choose the last event in the series to edit and just choose “This and all upcoming events?” Or will I have to create the events for the new year as new? Thank you, Online, but in maintenance mode. |
Hi Joy, It turns out that Event Espresso does allow for open ended registration. You can set the event’s status to Ongoing and it will always stay open for registration. |

I looked at ongoing, but the recurring event occurs on specific days for a specific period of time during the year. i.e. every Wednesday during the spring and fall semesters – then that repeats each year. I think the ongoing events are more for open day/open registration type events, yes? I tried to enter a test ongoing event without end registration dates, but it would only create the event when I removed the recurring option. While it may be possible with some code modification, I don’t think ongoing fits my particular scenario – unless I’m wrong. 🙂 If I’m not wrong, back to my original question. Will altering the registration dates as well as event starts and ends wreak havoc on previous registrations? Thanks! |

It would keep the previous registrations as registrations on the event with the new dates. I’ll often keep the same event on my test site and just keep advancing the registration ends and start / end event dates. |

Do you mean the original registrations would remain but they would show the new dates? Since you do this as well, I don’t think that’s what you’re saying, are you? 🙂 i.e. It would not change the original record, is that correct? Thanks for the clarification! |
The attendee records stay the same unless you go in and edit the attendee records. |

Great, thanks again, Josh! |
You are welcome. |
