Hi, I have read your articles about how to edit the text using POEDIT, as well as using a custom function. Does this also work for addons like the User Integration addon? I downloaded your .po file and found the string I want to change, but at the end of the string it has “%5$s” and I am not sure if I should replace that or not. What does that do? I just wanted to remove the green “On Sale” part and replace that with “If you are a member please, Login Here” with the Login Here being a link to my login page.

Hi Lee,

Thanks for giving this a try. That is part of the ticket selector and it can be translated through a gettext filter. Try this as the source string:

The %1$s%2$s%3$s%4$s is available to members only. %5$s

Replace “%5$s” in the new messaging with the instructions and the link.

Ok great, that is what I figured but I did not want to remove anything vital. When I update will these changes be overridden?

If you load your .mo file from /wp-content/uploads/espresso/languages/ they will not be removed when EE is updated.

Hi I followed these instructions exactly: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/how-to-change-wording-with-poedit/

And my changes are not showing up. I did notice that when I opened the .po file it gave me a warning that said the source language was the same as the translation. Also the file name you download is not exactly as it shows in the wiki article. You actually download “event-espresso-4-en.po” and not “event_espresso-en_US.po”. Perhaps this is the issue as my wp-config is now referencing “en_US” as the lang?

Yep! That was the issue. Working great now thanks!

Hi, that information is the locale which would need to be updated.

Were there any other questions about changing the messaging that we could help you with?
