I’m considering buying the Ticketing plugin. But only concern is what if the customer poses the original email that has the e-ticket. Can I send them another e-ticket?

Hi Markus,

Yes you can resend the ticket to the attendee, this would be the same ticket rather than a new ticket. To generate a new ticket you would need to re-register the attendee (you can do this within the admin)

From the Registrations view you will have a new icon within the ‘Actions’ column which will allow you to resend the ticket notice – http://take.ms/xb5Wy

The user can then use the link within that email to download the ticket again.

Is that what you are looking for?

Yes, that is exactly what I needed. My event is 10 months away and some customers will lose their ticket. The ability to reissue the same ticket is what I need.

Thanks!

One more question. With the printable tickets add-on, can I scan the tickets with an iPhone or iPad?

Hi Markus,

Yes you can, however currently we do not have a dedicated Event Espresso ticket scanning app.

You can use either a bluetooth handheld barcode scanner or a 3rd party app that allows you to scan a barcode/QR code and pass the value to an input field within the browser.

For Android we recommend Barcode Scanner Keyboard

For iOS, Scan to web

More information (and a video demo) can be found here:

Ok, so I get Scan to Web. How do I link that to Event Espresso so it can check that person in?

Can I use a barcode scanner with an iPad? My event check personnel will have iPads and not computers.

You log into your Dashboard via the browser (as if you were using a PC/MAC) then navigate to Event Espresso -> Barcode scanner.

Select your event, datetime etc

Then click the input field for the scanner, this is where you need Scan To Web, it will have a barcode button that opens the camera, once you scan a barcode/QR code it will oass the value back to the field.

Hi,

To pick up on Marcus’s first message.

If you resend the same ticket, can you confirm this does not generate a new BC and therefore the potential for multiple same BC tickets being in circulation, correct?

If you re-register the client and resend a new BC, does EE cancel the original BC to stop entering when scanned at the event?

Finally, are multiple prints allowed from one registration? Anything in place to stop multiple printing of same account/ticket…

The barcode uses part of the registration data, if you resent the ticket for the same registration it uses the same data to regenerate the barcode so they are identical.

Note – re-registering an attendee onto an event will create a new registration, so the data will be different and a new barcode will be generated.

If you re-register the client and resend a new BC, does EE cancel the original BC to stop entering when scanned at the event?

No.

The barcode is tied to the registration, you can manually cancel the original registration by setting the status to cancelled. Then when you re-register the attendee they will have a new registration and therefore a new barcode.

Finally, are multiple prints allowed from one registration? Anything in place to stop multiple printing of same account/ticket…

Other than printing and sending the tickets yourself there is no way to prevent multiple printing. Even with a system that would only allow a single print, there is nothing preventing a user from scanning the print and printing more….

However when you check-in the user (if using the Barcode scanner add-on you’ll need to us look-up mode) then you can see if the ticket has previously checked into the event.

Continuous mode currently checks the attendee in or out with each scan without any interaction from the user, so this can not be used if you want to check for fake tickets.

Tickets also have a uses value, in which you can set how many times they can be used across multiple datetimes. For example if the ticket is assigned to 5 datetimes but has a uses limit of 3, once the user checks into 3 of those datetimes they can not check into any more.

Thanks,

You can scan either the barcode or the QR code (if your ticket includes both)

You mention Scan to Web above, are you still using an iOS device with this app?

Yes, I was going to use iPhones and iPads. I wish there was a good free app though…

Do I need the check in screen open when scanning?

There is a check-in screen, but the one that works for barcode scanning is found in the menu labeled as Event Espresso – Barcode Scanner. This menu item appears when the Ticket Scanning Add-on is active:
