Hi – Third post/question: Re: recurring events: I have a class that repeats in the spring and the fall. All other information except the date range (and slight change in the title) is the same. I’m editing this now with new information – much of the non-edited version was based on my newbiness to EE. I created the spring semester events, which created 6 dates/listings in the event overview. I duplicated the last date in that series in order to create the new one for fall. I updated the event title to fall and changed the first and last event dates. I selected “This and all upcoming events.” Instead of creating a new event, what I see on the front end registration page (not on the recurring dropdown, but on the default registration page – both logged in and logged out) is only a single event title (spring) with new dates added. The dates are correct, but why didn’t it create a new event here with the new dates? The single event for a fall date DOES show the correct title. (I did it this way, because when trying manual creation dates for two different series of dates, it didn’t let me choose the day of the week.) In event overview, there are 6 dates/listings for the original spring event. And there ARE 6 events for fall with the new title and correct date. But the duplicated item is just that, a duplication of the last spring event. To be clear, the event I duplicated (ID 157) has a start date of may 28 in the overview listing and the duplicated event (ID 159) also shows may 28. All listings show both date ranges. In addition, in viewing the details of the original spring listings, it shows ONLY the fall date range in the “first event date, first event end date, last event date” section. It seems more of a display issue on the backend more than anything because it did properly create the new dates with the new title. But it left an orphaned duplicate (can I safely delete the duplicate?), and the fall date range is the only date range on all events. Thanks! Online, but in maintenance mode.

Maintenance mode off – here’s a url: Under Riding the Waves… You can see both sets of dates. |
Hi Joy, You should be able to delete the stray event without any issues. I normally recommend starting a new recurring event if there is a break in the start dates. |

Thank you, that’s what I figured I’d have to do. Duplicating an event doesn’t quite work as I expected it would. Thanks again – happy holidays! |
