duplicate registration emails

In the past few days we’ve started to receive duplicate registration emails for some (not all) registrations. They are NOT sent at the same time and can be anywhere from about 5 minutes to an hour apart. I can’t think of anything that has changed with the site since this started happening.

Hi,

Can you check the Activity list in Event Espresso > Messages to see if both the originals and duplicates are listed there?

Yes, the originals and duplicates appear in the Messages list. In all 3 cases we had a payment received message sent to primary registration followed by registration approved message to registrant and event admin, and then later a duplicate registration approved message to registrant and event admin.

If it matters, we have the default registration status set to approved (we did this to allow payment by check for some events and still have the registrations count towards our ticket limits). Not sure if that is related but we’ve had it set like that since the beginning so it’s not a recent change.

May I ask which payment method the above registration used?

Note we have multiple payment methods for some vendors (like PayPal) so the more specific you can be the better 🙂

All 3 used PayPal Express.

Hmm, ok.

Make a not of the EE Transaction ID for each of the 3 registrations (work on one for now but you can check the others).

If you go to Event Espresso -> Payment methods -> Logs and find the logs for one of the TXN ID’s you mentioned how many do you see?

(Side note, searching for the transaction ID using the search function will not include all logs for that TXN, view the tables using the timestamp of around when the messages were triggered)

Each of those Transaction IDs appears 9 times in Event Espresso -> Payment methods -> Logs. Actually, every transaction ID appears many times in the logs.

That’s expected because there’s quite a bit of back and forth communication with a payment request to/from PayPal’s servers.
