Duplicate Registration Approved Messages Being Sent to Event Admin

I have scanned the forum for a solution, but none of the posts I found seem to apply. I have custom message template created for an event. Each time a registration occurs, I receive duplicate Registration Approved messages from the system. They messages also appear to be sent exactly one hour and six minutes apart. I’ve tried deleting some of the old templates that are not being used. I also have tried enabling and disabling cache to no avail.

Please advise, thanks!

Hi there Joseph,

Which payment method are you using? Is it PayPal standard and if so, do you have the PayPal IPN setup?

Lorenzo,

I am using Paypal standard for payments, but do not have the Paypal IPN setup at this time and shows “currently disabled”. Note that we have used the application for other events and did not receive any duplicates. We have upgraded the to the Avada theme since then, and I believe we have upgrade the Event Espresso once or twice since then as well.

Does the Paypal IPN need to be setup? If so, how do I confirm what my Event Espresso transaction page is? Is

http://<site>/transactions

always going to be the default?

Thanks!

Hi Joseph,

The PayPal IPN needs to be on (enabled) even if you are using your PayPal account for other online projects.

You can get the exact URL for your transactions page by going to Event Espresso –> General Settings –> Critical Pages. Next, look for the Transactions page and click edit and you’ll be taken to the page in the WP pages editor where you can view the slug. I had a look at your site as the transactions page slug has not changed from the default.

We actually send the exact URL during the payment process so the important thing is that the IPN is enabled:

That should ensure that payments are correctly updated in Event Espresso.

Lorenzo,

I have made the changes per your request. Just to be clear, I haven’t noticed any issue with payments being being updated correctly in the app, only that I am receiving duplicate Registration Approved emails. That said, I haven’t actually paid close attention to the transactions during the hour or so post-registration.

I will keep an eye out for the issue next time someone registers and will update this thread with the results of these changes. Please keep the thread active until I can confirm the changes have corrected the issue.

Thanks again! I appreciate the assistance.
