Hi, I am doing a lot of testing but I am confused. Because if I register for one event under the name Alice Gilbert (fake name) and then another event under the same name. They are coming up as two separate registrants in my registrants list. I want them to be the same registrant so that I can keep an easier track of all the events Alice is attending. What am I doing wrong? P.s. the two event registration forms are probably not exactly the same as I am making up information such as addresses every time. Is this the issue? |

Hi Cindra, That is because you are collecting registration details for two different people. Each name and email will be shown in the registrations overview screen as a separate record. If you want to collect guest information but not track them, then create a question with a textarea field for guest names. Note that if you use this option, then you will not have a way to easily determine the total number of attendees/registrants for an event. — |

Hey Lorenzo, I don’t understand your response. If Alice registers for one event online and then registers for another event in a month and she registers with the exact name and email should she be considered one contact/registrant? I am not sure what you mean by “guest” information. |

Are you referring to the list within Event Espresso -> Registrations. Or Event Espresso -> Registrations -> Contact list? Each registration is unique, regardless of the contact, however a single ‘Contact’ can have multiple registrations. A contact is identified with the same First Name, Last Name and Email address. If any of those are different between registrations they are assigned to a new contact. |

Hi Tony, Ok. So I guess I am referring to contact list then. But mine still is not working like that. As you can see in this screen print my first name, last name, and email are all identical and yet it is creating two contacts. http://www.artnook.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Screen-Shot-2015-12-18-at-10.59.06-AM.png |

Was that a multi ticket registration on a single event or 2 separate events? |
|
This was me registering for event a, completing registration and payment. Then going back in and registering for event b, completing registration and payment. |
|
Do you ask custom questions within the registration forms? Can you link me to the two events you used please? I’d like to investigate this a little further. |
|
Yes. All of my events ask custom questions. |

Any updates on this? |

Hi Cindra, The issues you are seeing are likely the results of re-purposing the First Name system question field into a “Student First and Last name field”. Do you notice that when you go to edit a contact, its Last Name field is blank, and the First Name field has both the first and last name? You can avoid this and other issues by ensuring that the Primary Registrant Question group uses both of the first and last name question fields. |

Ok. I will try this. Thanks. |

Ok. I did this and it works!!! Thank you…I can’t remember why I thought did not want the last name separate but that is fine. Thanks! |
