Donation creation issues

Hi – Using EE3.
If I use the Multiple Event Registration Add on for donation amounts there are messages about the number of registrants you can have – there are NO registrants…

If I enable ‘display registration form’ it asks for REGISTRATION DETAILS – there is no registration – this is not a button – would like to change it to ‘Details’.

I see threads here about adding php with code suggested to customize – not sure where to put that even if I managed to create it….

Would also like to be able to have an ‘ANOTHER AMOUNT’ – has that been enabled/created yet – keep seeing coming soon….?

Help – Thank you!

Hi there,

Event Espresso does not officially support ‘donations’, it can be used for them, but not in a ‘pay what you want’ context so it does not work for all use cases.

May I ask why you are using EE3 rather than EE4? Does EE4 not support your use case?

You could setup EE4 with multiple ticket options within a single event to allow for donations

Admission = Free
Admission + HK$100 Donation = HK$100
Admission + HK$200 Donation = HK$200

and so on, the user then selects the donation they want to submit and registers onto the event in one go.

Would that not work for you?

Whilst we can help you work through the changes required for EE3 to not sure ‘Registration’, all of our development time for new features is happening on EE4, EE3 will eventually be phased out.

There are cases were EE3 fits better than EE4 and we will continue to support it, but based on your current setup it sounds like EE4 will work for you?

EE4 does not support WorldPay and from what I gather will not. Had shown this ‘required’ donation page to support pre-purchase so expected it to be possible… Am learning to configure the rest to meet my client’s needs – was thinking about using it for other sites as well – a few of which take donations…..

Can live without the blank space – tho will need to ‘kill’ the word Registration and the rest of ‘Attendee’ Information‘ must go for the Donation page….. Should be ‘Your Information‘ or ‘Your Details‘ instead…

Thank you Tony!

You can change any of the text strings that appear on the registration pages by following any one of the methods outlined here:

Thanks Josh!
Not a coder – but looks as if I may be able to handle this – will it change all Events site-wide or can I target specific ones?

The methods outlined in the documentation will change the text for all events site-wide.

thought as much –
#2. the WP plugin has not been updated for 4 years – and it didn’t seem to work for me. Looked easy so went there first.

#3. Poedit – search and replace not working but better that way going thru one line at a time and replacing ‘Register’ with ‘Register or Donate’ same with ‘Attendee or Donor’ etc seems best – am halfway thru BUT – when I save it I get warnings that there are now items marked in red that will not work even tho they did save it – seems to largely be about payments but am afraid to replace the existing file once I finish – do you know what this is about – I didn’t change any text that has to do with payments – am working with Edit a Translation – should I be using Create New Translation?

Error message:
Entries with errors were marked in red in the list. Details of the error will be shown when you select such an entry.
The file was saved safely and compiled into the MO format, but it will probably not work correctly.

Due to risk management related reasons Luottokunta ePayment Service does not accept this kind of transaction, but immediately sends the authorisation reversal to the card issuer.
Do not retry the transaction, as it will most likely result in the same outcome. The payment card cannot be used to pay through Luottokunta ePayment Service.
The time that authorisation reversal requires varies and is dependent on the card issuer. In case the payment card still has a money reservation, you can advice the cardholder to contact his/her card issuer for more detailed information.

then: !’msgid’ and ‘msgstr’ entries do not both end with’\n’ and in the translation box a red ‘\n’

have not used ‘\n’ anywhere tho I have used a ‘/’ often.

B. And question #2 have made some changes to the pay by check method and one other to allow people to select WorldPay – Pay by check – or charge my Account, should i copy that text over before I overwrite the MO file?

You can ignore those errors and you can copy that text over before you generate a new MO file. You’re not actually going to overwrite the .mo file on your server, you’ll upload it to /wp-content/uploads/espresso/languages.
