Hi Event Espresso support team,

I want to assign roles to users for my events site so there is an admin user that can do everything and a role for user to create events and tickets.

I know that version 4 has this plugin:

https://eventespresso.com/product/eea-people-addon/

but I could not do what I wanted.

Version 3 has this plugin but I cannot get it:

https://eventespresso.com/product/espresso-permissions-pro/

Do I have to purchase the version 3 plugin which is not included in version 4.

many thanks

Lucy

Hi Lucy,

Event Espresso 4 does not currently have a user roles plugin per say, however EE4 is littered with multiple capability checks which allows you to do what you need.

You can assign the capabilities you need to any user/role on your site and grant/deny access to multiple locations of EE4 fairly easily, however I have also created an example plugin that adds 2 additional roles yo your site.

Event Manager – basically has all of the EE caps assigned to it but nothing else, it’s basically a subscriber roles with all of the EE capabilites.

Event Organizer – this user should have access only to their events and their registrations.

You can take a look at this here: http://take.ms/WcoqG

Once you have activated it once, you can de-activate and delete it if you prefer (the roles are stored in the database)

You’re most welcome.

I would also recommend installing a plugin that allows you to alter capabilities, for example:

https://wordpress.org/plugins/user-role-editor/

You can then create a test user and alter the caps on that specific user to see what the individual caps control.

Hi Tony,

Thank you again for the advice, that last plugin was exactly what I was looking for.

FYI if anyone is looking at this and have problems uploading feature images, just check “upload_files” for your desired role and it should work fine.

many thanks Lucy
