Questions, I have a client that will be providing tours on a daily basis, six hours a day. Each tour is going to last 30 minutes. Each tour is the same except when purchasing a ticket you have the option to upgrade to include a bottle of liquor (Currently two options but will be up to 6 in the near future).

Struggling with the process of setting up all these events. Should it just be one event with multiple time options? Or separate events for each time slot? Also what is the best way to handle the bottle modifier because the tour description will be the same. Number of spaces available for each tour will be the same whether they add on a bottle or not.

Any suggestions would be a great help.

Hi Jeff,

I can suggest setting up one event for each day of tours. Then set up one date time for that event, and a separate ticket for each timeslot. You can also add tickets for the liquor options. Here’s a screenshot of what that will look like in the editor.

Please note the Qty field will need to be adjusted to match the capacity of each tour. You’ll also need to estimate a reasonable limit for the Maximum number of tickets allowed per order for this event: field to cover any registrations where they might want to book more than one tour in a day and get several of the liquor option upgrades.

You’ll also make liberal use of the copy event button so that once you have one event set up, making several more events will be a matter of clicking a duplicate event button, then adjusting the dates.

One other thing that would be good to do is make it so robots don’t index these event pages since there is going to be mostly duplicated content on each page, which some say will negatively affect SEO. You can apply a filter function which will tell the search engine bots to not index. Here’s some sample code that you can add to a functions.php file:
