Our official announcement details all legacy payment methods that will be deprecated. This post specifically addresses issues or concerns related to Authorize.net AIM. The original deprecation date was set for January 15, 2025, but it has been extended to April 15, 2025, in Event Espresso 5.0.32.p. To postpone the deprecation of these payment methods, make sure to upgrade to version 5.0.32.p.
Please note:
- These changes were not made by choice but are necessary due to the deprecation of older APIs from PayPal and Authorize.net. We are simply adhering to the guidelines by implementing the latest version of the API.
- Customers using Authorize.net AIM do not have to use Authorize.net Accept. Customers can use PayPal Commerce (which is included in the plugin for free), or the Stripe or Square add-ons too. It is the customer’s choice to use Authorize.net.
The process for migrating from Authorize.net AIM to Authorize.net Accept, generally is:
- Download the Authorize.net Accept Add-on from your EventEspresso.com Account page. Customers with an Everything License will have access to this add-on. Customers with the Personal license will need to purchase the Authorize.net Accept add-on separately.
- Install the Authorize.net Accept add-on to your WordPress website.
- Activate the add-on.
- go to Event Espresso > Payment Methods > Authorize.net Accept and activate the payment method
- Add your API credentials (the same as your Authorize.net AIM credentials).
- Save the page.
- Deactivate Authorize.net AIM by going to Event Espresso Payment Methods > Authorize.net AIM (tab), scrolling to the bottom of the page and clicking the Deactivate button.
We recommend creating a “test” event with a $1 ticket to test it all works out. Some people have seen where the payment pages is stuck “processing”, while others have not had the problem.
For more information about using Authorize.net please see our Authorize.net Accept documentation.
Troubleshooting
- Some customers have reported that the payment page occasionally gets stuck on “processing,” while others have not experienced this issue. We have contacted Authorize.net for assistance and are awaiting their response. Additionally, this issue has only occurred for some customers using Test credentials in Test Mode. We will provide an update here as soon as more information becomes available.
