According to this article, EE is deprecating several gateways. I didn’t see Network Merchants (NMI) on the list for depreciating but it is not on the list for approved gateways either. Are all 3rd party gateways being depreciated other than the approved ones in the article? Do I need to move away from Network Merchants (NMI)? |

Hi Mike, Let’s help clear this up some 🙂
Approved gateways? May I ask where you see a list of Approved gateways? We have our own payment methods for Event Espresso, developed and supported by us (EventEspresso.com). Developers are free to create their own payment methods and whilst we don’t provide official support for them we dont prevent them from working/loading nor will we deprecate payment methods that aren’t ours. Obviously, we recommend our own payment methods as we provide support for those, but there are also some providers we simply don’t have integrations with, so we don’t block or disable 3rd party payment methods within Event Espresso. (Side note here that this doesn’t mean we may not be forced to do so in the future, say if a 3rd payment method is abandoned but poses a security risk, but currently we do not and have no plans to do so as it stands). The deprecated payment methods you are linking to above are all our own ‘older’ integrations which use integration methods/API’s that have since been deprecated by the provider so we’ve deprecated our versions of them in favour of the ‘newer’ integrations.
No. 0 3rd party integrations are being deprecated, only our own versions. If you wish to use a 3rd party payment method using one of those deprecated API’s you can do but we wont provide support for issue with them.
How are you integrating with NMI currently? As far as I am aware NMI run an AIM integration layer so that they basically accept exactly the exact same details you would send to Auth.net AIM and to integrate you just have to send the requests to the correct URL. The AIM payment method build into EE core had a filter on the URL which allowed users to connect to NMI using it… however, if your using that method that will stop working as the AIM payment method within EE has been deprecated. However, if you are using a 3rd party integration for NMI such as THIS one, that will continue to work as it is separate from our Auth.net AIM payment method. |
