Emails to myself (admin) and to the client are being unacceptably slow. Email log on website shows they haven’t been sent yet.
I know there’s been a booking as the paypal payment notification has come through but client has yet to receive booking confirmation and i haven’t received admin notification.
I upped WP memory in config file a while ago, so am guessing its not a memory issue (as i’ve read in other posts).
All was working well last summer, EE is a fantastic booking tool! frustrating to have it wobble just before another busy season ๐Ÿ™
Any ideas as to what’s wonky?

WP version: 4.7.3
EE version: 3.1.37.11.P

Hmm the plot thickens…
is it something to do with paypal ipn and my website not recognising that payment was made?
Also, i’m running cloudflare, and WP fastest cache (excluding the 4 ee pages).

Hi there,

Yes it’s probably related if the PayPal Instant Payment Notifications are not reaching your site, those actually trigger the notification emails.

The first thing to check is you make sure that manually sending a notification via the Event > Registrations page works. If that works, then that’s a good indication there’s something not quite right with the automatic notification trigger, and you can focus on troubleshooting the PayPal IPN by stepping through this checklist:

Hmmmm, I deleted the gateway files in uploads/espresso/…my thinking is that it will revert to default templates.

So far, this seems to have done the trick.
FYI notification emails to client and admin were delayed for a free (no paypal) test event too, so IPN can’t be the sole cause.

I’ll keep an eye on it this week. Hopefully all is well now.

Another online booking today. Only way i knew they had booked is the paypal payment notification email. No confirmation email sent to me (admin) from EE on my website.
I double checked and everything in paypal appears ok. I resent the IPN in IPN history, but nothing is showing in the logs on the server.
This is going to develope into a nightmare problem if i cant get it sorted before the easter school holidays.
Is it worth upgrading to an actual support ticket?
Thanks

Hi Cleo,

This is actually a support ticket. Have you stepped through the PayPal troubleshooting checklist here? If not, someone from EE staff can run through that checklist if you can complete the form on this page:

I checked your site and this is looking exactly like the same issue that has been reported by other PayPal users and it appears to be an issue where PayPal is removing some of the information sent back to your site. So that’s why only some of the registrations aren’t getting updated correctly. It may be that PayPal will fix this at their end, or if not, the Event Espresso PayPal Gateway will need to be adapted to have a fallback in case PayPal removes some of the payment info from the Notification listener URL.
