Hi

Wordpress is advising me to contact you before data migration. I am seeing the following message: –

It appears that your previous Data Migration Task (Data Migration to WP Users Integration 2.0.0. WordPress Multisite use is detected. Please contact Event Espresso Support before migrating.) is incomplete, and should be resumed

I started the migration but then saw this message and stopped it. I’m not sure what to do now. Do you guys need to do something first?

Many thanks

James

Hi James,

Since there’s no way to know what site existing WP Users Integration data is for (specifically the saved relationships between user and Attendee using the user_meta) you will need to either manually edit the relationships in their db or to start fresh with wp_user_integration.

Why can’t I just simply carry out the migration? Has something changed in v2.0?

You can simply carry out the migration, but what you’ll find is the relationships between existing users and attendees may not be correct because the migration only applies to a single WordPress site. There’s more information in this other thread about the issue with existing data on a Multisite site.

So has there been a fundamental change from version 1.1.5 of WP Users to the latest? We had it Network Activated on a multisite install.

It’s more light a slight tweak to allow for compatibility with WordPress Multisite going forward.

So, let me get this right…. WP Users v1.1.5 did work with multisite, you then upgraded it to 2.0 but that isn’t multisite compatible. So, I now need to modify the database as per your other thread?: https://eventespresso.com/topic/wp-user-integration-multisite/

If that’s the case, it will take us a really long time to update the database due to it’s sheer size!!!

No that’s incorrect. WP Users v1.1.5 did not fully work with Multisite because that version did not allow for site specific user meta. Version 2.0 and later does allow for site specific user meta.

OK thanks. We had it working on a multisite but now the database migration is failing. Can you help?

What’s the error message when the database migration runs?

It doesn’t give me a message – unless I need to look for it somewhere? The migration screen just hangs with no progress showing.

Does it let you click the Next button? If not, there may be a JavaScript error on the Migration page, which you will be able to avoid by running the migration with all other plugins deactivated for that site and it also may help to temporarily switch to a default WordPress theme.

If you inspect the page in Firebug or a similar tool you may be able to pinpoint the source of the error.
