Hello
I tried to customize the subscription form. I set phone number to be required but it remains optional. By default the country field is also not set to “required” but the payment page requires it.

Hi there,
The payment page is not the registration page so the options don’t apply there, it depends on which payment method you are using.
Can you link me to an event I can use to view this, please?

I use the braintree payment gayteway. I can’t provide you a working link now but you look at this screen shot :

I also want to make post code and city required and remove the country field.

OK, those are the billing info fields and they do not use the questions from the registration form so the settings within Event Espresso -> Registration Form do not affect those.
There is a filter within the Braintree add-on that allows you to alter the fields using code, here is an example of how to remove fields from the Braintree billing form:

It sounds lie you only want ‘country’ within the $fields_to_remove array from that code.
In the latest versions of EE the City and Postcode fields are already required, which version are you using?
