Hello We have a customer with a @yahoo.ca email address and they are saying they are not receiving notifications when someone registers for an event… Their email is set up in the Primary Contact Email field… Are there other things I can check to ensure the plugin is sending out email notifications when someone registers for and event? |
Hi there, Yes, you can go to Event Espresso > Messages and check the messages activity list table. You can even do a search there for their @yahoo.ca address to see if those messages were logged as sent. It’s important to discern whether the emails are actually not getting sent, or if they’re actually getting sent, but not received. If you find that they’re getting sent, maybe they can check to see whether the emails are getting trapped in the spam folder? In most cases, setting up a third party service to deliver email will resolve email delivery issues. The built-in mail servers (especially those that are used for shared hosting accounts) can be unreliable. We recommend using a service like Mandrill, Postmark, or any of the other services listed in our documentation for sending transactional email. More info here: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/postmark-app-mandrill-transactional-email-handling-services/ |

Ok So I checked to Event Espresso > Messages … and The emails notifications are not being listed there… So it doesn’t appear that they are being sent. What has to happen in order to make sure that the emails are being sent after registration? what would cause the emails to no be sent? |
So do you not see anything at all on the message activity table? Here is a quick example of what you should see – http://take.ms/YDzgt Are the registrations happening on a free or paid ticket? Which payment method are you using? Can you link me to an event I can run a test registration on? |
So we see some of the early test emails when we first installed the plugin and tested… but ever since we changed the primary email to the client’s email nothing has appeared in the email log… We are using authorize.net as the payment method. The transactions do go through and the money exchange is happening… but the client is not being notified via email that the transaction happened and the email log is not showing anything being sent out… Here is a link to view one of their events: https://digitaldentistryinstitute.org/events/core-1-implant-tx-planning-restorations-2/ |

If you go to test an email from one of the email Message template editors, and send the test to their email address, do they receive the test? |
So I tried the TEst and got this Message: The following errors have occurred: However I’m not certain which exactly is triggering the error message: This is what my email template looks like… Payment Notification Payment Details: Can you please tell me which of the above short codes is “invalid data”? |
None of those shortcodes are invalid data, those are all valid shortcodes. |
ok here is a screenshot of my current set up… I remove the first part of the recipient’s email address… Can you tell me if you see anything out of the ordinary? https://digitaldentistryinstitute.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/email-template-ddi.jpg |
The Course Details box looks out of the ordinary. Does the message failure happen if that box is removed? |
That was a custom field left over from a custom post type we used to have before purchasing event espresso… I have disabled the “Tooset Types” plugin and re-tested… Still seeing the same issue: https://digitaldentistryinstitute.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/testing.jpg How can I get this fixed? |
You should be able to fix this by going to Event Espresso > Messages > Settings, then look in the Inactive Message Types box. Then click on the Payment Failed message type, and drag that item over to the box that has the Active message types. |
I think I found the issue .. This wasn’t switched on: This messenger delivers messages via email using the built-in wp_mail function included with WordPress I switched it on and now I am able to send test messages |
Yes that setting needs to stay switched on to send messages. Now if you go to test an email from one of the email Message template editors, and send the test to their email address, do they receive the test? |
yes all good now |
