I have had a intermittant problem where I send out emails invoice through Event Espresso and although I get the message “Invoice sent” the email does not arrive,
I have used EV for a year with no problem but over the last month this problme became intermittent, it stopped for a few hour, then was ok for a few weeks, it has now been down for the past 24 hours, nobody get email confirmation on bookings and when I send out payment receive notice or invoice they do not arrive
It the files were directly altered in the plugin folder, then yes those changes will be lost on updates.
If the template files were copied wp-content/uploads/espresso/templates and then altered there, then these will not be lost, but may need to be updated.
If the modifications were done by hooks and filters these will not be lost as they are usually in a separate plugin or functions file. They might need to be checked to make sure the hooks/filters haven’t been changed/removed (unlikely but possible).
