Customer charged but not added to event

So I’ve been having problems with customers getting double charged recently and want to know if this is a known issue being worked on?

And yesterday a customer bought tickets and it charged them through paypal but Event espresso showed payment pending still, this is a new one. I’d like to know what might be causing these issues cause I’m getting angry calls and charge backs.

I’ve had virtually no problems for almost 7 years up until the start of this year, was there major changes in event espresso and paypal? They don’t seem to be meshing well anymore.

Hello,

This is the first time we heard this issue. Can you tell us what you see in your paypal dashboard? do you see any double charge?

Can you also check the transaction, if there’s a double charge that happen.

Yeah there was a double charge twice in the last month or so in paypal, I’ve had to refund twice.

Also just a few days ago I had a customer purchase tickets but they didn’t get added to the class as a active registraint, they were kept on payment pending, any idea what that could have been?

Can you tell us if you made any modification in your EE plugin or customize it using hooks or filters?

I’ve sent the details needed. It happened again today, a customer bought a ticket through Paypal but wasn’t added to the class it shows she hasn’t paid on the website. I haven’t made any changes to the EE plugin or customizations that I’m aware of.

No, we’ve not changed how the payment methods work. You’re using PayPal Express and we have not changed the code within that for a long time (it hasn’t /doesn’t needed any changes).

The log entries for your PayPal Express payments are missing a lot of entries.

When I make a payment with PayPal Express EE creates 9 log entries, the number of actual entries for each site differs by usually a couple as it depends on the requests, but on yours there’s 3. Those are basically the log entries to set up the checkout, and get the details from PayPal that we need to then pass you over to PayPal.

The missing entries are when PayPal sends a request to your site and when the thank you page loads to confirm the payment.

You’ve mentioned double charges and I assume what is happening is the site is showing them as unpaid AFTER they’ve already paid and they are then working through the payment options step again to repay, correct?

You have both PayPal Commerce and PayPal Express enabled, which one are you getting the reports of issues from?

To Rio, yes I’ve confirmed I received payment from the customers on PayPal.

To Tony:
I haven’t changed anything other than adding the PayPal commerce option as it was suggested I add it as there won’t be support for Express. Paypal doesn’t show what method they used to check out, and EE does however it isn’t marked as paid on EE so I don’t know which method they used. and yes I’ve been seeing double charges for some customers as well, they didn’t mention that they went to replay however but they didn’t mention that they didn’t either. How can we fix the issue of a customer not being updated as paid in EE though?
