I think your plugin is perfect for a new site I am building but before I purchase the pro version I have a few questions.

  1. Is there a My Account area where customers can login to view their past orders and registration info?

  2. You have ‘Registration’ then ‘Add to Cart’ but they are separate. Can you have the user register for an events but choose to Pay Now or ‘Pay at Door’?

  3. Can the custom registration form fields adjust the price of the ticket? We have gaming events and when buying tickets users can add different games to their ticket which should adjust the ticket price.

  4. Does it have ticket inventory tracking? So only a certain number of tickets can be sold and the admin can view how many tickets have been sold?

  5. I see the calendar view but want to make sure we can display the event listings in any way we want and on the event pages add video, gallery, commenting, etc.

  6. Confirming that the cost of the plugin is a one time fee and there is no annual cost.

  7. Do you have a login for a demo admin area?

Thanks,

Isadora

Hi,

Hopefully I can answer everything for you.

Is there a My Account area where customers can login to view their past orders and registration info?

Yes and no. If the user registers with your site and has a user role created for them, then yes they can log in and any event purchased after that registration will show in their profile. We also have a shortcode that will allow you to put this information on the front end of your site so the user doesn’t need to visit the dashboard area.

Event Espresso does not deal with site registrations, you would need to use the default WordPress system or a third party plugin like S2Member.

You have ‘Registration’ then ‘Add to Cart’ but they are separate. Can you have the user register for an events but choose to Pay Now or ‘Pay at Door’?

The registration and add to cart are separate in that the user can register for a single event or add various events to the cart. Either way payment occurs after the user has selected the event/s, filled out the form and confirmed the details.

WE have no Pay at the door system in place, but you could easily modify the Invoice or Cheque/Money Order gateway to fulfill that need.

Can the custom registration form fields adjust the price of the ticket? We have gaming events and when buying tickets users can add different games to their ticket which should adjust the ticket price.

No, unfortunately the forms cannot modify the ticket price. However you can add various ticket price options to an event for example:

Basic ticket €10
Ticket and game €50
Ticket and game bundle €100

These will then appear in a drop down menu for the user to select.

Does it have ticket inventory tracking? So only a certain number of tickets can be sold and the admin can view how many tickets have been sold?

The system has attendee limits so that the event can be set to have X number of attendees so you can always see how many tickets have been sold. As well as that the system logs the ticket type that the customer buys so you can export the attendee information for that event and analyse the data.

I see the calendar view but want to make sure we can display the event listings in any way we want and on the event pages add video, gallery, commenting, etc.

The events themselves use the default tinymce editor so you can format text, images etc.

The event listings are controlled by HTML/PHP/CSS templates. As such you can modify them to appear how you want but you may require a developer if the modifications are large. It really depends on what you are trying to do.

As well as that they use shortcodes to help filter the events by category, date etc.

You cannot currently add comments to the events. However you can create additional posts with the event details which can of course have comments.

Confirming that the cost of the plugin is a one time fee and there is no annual cost.

We follow the standard WordPress plugin licence structure. The cost of the licence gets you the plugin, one years worth of support and one years worth of updates. After your licence expires, you will no longer receive support or updates. You can of course continue to use the plugin.

We do offer discounts on renewal.

Do you have a login for a demo admin area?

Hello, thank you for the clear responses. Only a few related questions.

1. regarding the various ticket price options: could these be set as a check boxes with ability to select multiple? We need to somehow know which games the players want to select.

2. For commenting on event pages – we cannot just add another plugin to the page for commenting? If we can modify the HTML/CSS/ PHP? We to have developers just need to know the limitations. We wanted to do facebook commenting.

3. New questions – we want to add a lightbox iframe to the events page, this will not be an issue correct?

4. You mentioned that we would have to use a third party plugin to have the Members area such as S2Member. Will this integrate with your checkout so part of the checkout process is to enter your username and password to create an account?

5. You mentioned that Register and Add To Cart are separate. If we hide register and only have Add to Cart will the custom registration page be part of the checkout process?
Thanks!

Hello Isadora,

1. regarding the various ticket price options: could these be set as a check boxes with ability to select multiple? We need to somehow know which games the players want to select.

There is no way currently to do this. If you wanted to allow the user to be able to select more than one ticket I would suggest using the Multiple Event Manager which will display the ticket types separately so the customer can purchase X or one ticket type or Y of the other. Or you coudl create these as separate events.

2. For commenting on event pages – we cannot just add another plugin to the page for commenting? If we can modify the HTML/CSS/ PHP? We to have developers just need to know the limitations. We wanted to do facebook commenting.

Well, I suppose you could add something to the template files or turn on comments for the page in the wordpress settings but as the content is displayed dynamically you will see the same comments on all the events.

3. New questions – we want to add a lightbox iframe to the events page, this will not be an issue correct?

Iframes might be an issue, not so much with the events, but with the payment gateways, especially PayPal but probabbly others. I have yet to see an iframe system that can resolve that.

We do now have a JSON API that may be better suited for this task.

4. You mentioned that we would have to use a third party plugin to have the Members area such as S2Member. Will this integrate with your checkout so part of the checkout process is to enter your username and password to create an account?

Unfortunately no, it does not integrate in that way. It should be possible to do this with some custom coding though.

5. You mentioned that Register and Add To Cart are separate. If we hide register and only have Add to Cart will the custom registration page be part of the checkout process?

Yes it will, perhaps my choice of word “separate” was misleading. If the user selects the register link they will go through one process where they fill out a form and select ticket type, then move to confirmation and then to payment.

With the add to cart the process is similar and in fact uses most of the same code, but they dont have to register instantly, they can browse more events adding them to cart.
