Custom Payment Status

I am looking to add a payment status that takes a spot but can automatically expire after a set period of time if payment is not received. Here is my use case:

A user registers for a course, and has a guaranteed spot in the course but has selected an offline payment option. They are provided with 3 days to deliver a cheque to a mailbox. Their status would be approved but pending payment.

Scenario 1: The administrator receives the cheque and adds the transaction to the website, the registration status updates to Approved. No further action.

Scenario 2: The cheque never arrives, after the three day waiting period expires, the registration is abandoned, and the spot opens up again for either a waitlisted attendee, or for a new registration to occur.

We are promoting credit card transactions heavily via email marketing and on the site, however a large portion of our users are of an older generation and don’t trust using their cards online, or simply don’t have them. We don’t want to punish them for not having a credit card, or not wanting to use it.

Let me know if this is something that can be done, or added.

Were you able to check if the payment method invoice will work on your use case?

the only problem in this, you have to manually approve or dis-approve it as you will receive the money through different payment method outside EE.

Hi Rio,

I’m already using the “Check” payment method which I think produces the same result.

The issue is that we want to be able to allow a registration to take a spot and automatically time out after a set period of time. The idea of manually expiring registrations where payment is not received is not appealing to my client.

Something to add to a feature request/development ideas list perhaps?
