Hello,

We used to have a ‘Past conferences’ page which shows all the events that had taken place in the past. This was a custom page which was created by you guys back in 2016.

We just updated the Event Espresso software to version 4.9.68.p and the page has now stopped working.

Would you be able to help us fix the page?

The file you created is in the /public_html/wp-content/themes/Avada folder and it’s called past-event-custom-template.php. (I can send you the file if this helps?)

In addition to this, I have a related question. If we were to set up some event categories, could we then show events of a certain category on two pages, an upcoming events page and a past events page?

Look forward to hearing from you.

Hi,

We’ve received your request for priority support. We’ll try the log in information you sent, and if everything that was sent is correct, we can review the templates and go from there.

Hi again,

I’ve got the issue with the /past-conferences/ page straightened out.

With regards to making a category page that shows upcoming events, you could use a shortcode on a page like this:

[ESPRESSO_EVENTS category_slug=your_event_category_slug]

and that will show upcoming events from that category.

I’ll have to think about how to put together something to display past events, from only a specific category. It might involve making another template.

Great, that page is fixed, thanks so much for that.

I’ll wait to hear from you about the past events for a specific category.

Hello, is there any update on the past events of a certain category?

Hi,

May I ask do you have a category ready to go for this, and if so, what’s its name?

Yes, it’s called: brexit

OK. I don’t see any past events on your site with that category, so you’ll need to assign at least one past events to that category.

Then, you’ll add this shortcode to a post or page:

[espresso_past_events category_slug=brexit]

I’ve added a plugin that adds the [espresso_past_events] shortcode, so as long as that plugin is activated, the shortcode will parse a simple list of past events.

Hi, how do I get the espresso past events plugin? Is that part of the standard software or do I need to add/enable something else?

Thanks and sorry for the silly questions!

Hi,

I’ve actually installed & activated the plugin on your site since I had access from the support token.

Hi,

I checked and there are only 4 events assigned to the category, and all of them are upcoming events.

In order to show past events of a certain category, you’ll need to go in and edit some past events and assign them to the category.

If you buy a support token we could modify the template for that shortcode so it looks like the other page.

Hi Josh,

I’ve purchased the support token.

Do I need to fill out the ‘Redeem a Support Purchase’ form or do you already have what you need from the last one?

We still have that first one open so we have what we need.

Okay the plugin has been updated so its template matches the other template.
