Hello,

I know that using the deafult URL example.com/wp-admin will give the possibility to register and log on.

But wp-admin is not really a great URL to give users. Also, it looks ugly.

Under Manage Member Settings there is a possibility to insert a custom URL.

Ok so i tried that with:
http://www.example.com/loginpage/
http://www.example.com/loginpage/
example.com/loginpage/

I created the page called “loginpage”.

I cant get it to work, im not sure what i need to do. Is there some sort of shortcode, or something else i need to do to get that to work properly?

Hi,

Event Espresso does not deal with WordPress site registration. Maybe check something like this out https://managewp.com/change-your-wordpress-login-url

Ok this comes as a surprice.

Under the menu step in the admin panel there is a menu called “event espresso” -> “member settings”.

In that section og event espresso there is this text:

<code>Manage Member Settings

Login page (if different from default WordPress login page):
Member registration page (if different from default WordPress register page):
    Require login for all events?
    Make autofilled fields editable? </code>

What is that for?

I can register and see what courses i have booked via the wp-admin section.

So im not really sure that “event espresso” does not deal with wordpress registrations. I would say that it did.

Can you explain what you mean excatly, because i can 50% of what you say that i cant. or what? πŸ™‚

Hi Morten,

Event Espresso can check if a user is registered or not, but does not handle any of the actual registration for that user by default. As in if they are not a member then can become a Member through the WordPress install (or a members plugin if you have one) but Event Espresso will not register them as a member.

Back you example, I had no issues when using the full URL in that field.

eg. http://www.eventespresso.com/

View-able here http://d.pr/i/JNEI

The link works perfectly, so I’m unsure why yours is not, can you link us to an example?

Hello Tony,

I understand that Event Espresso do not handle user registrations.
—————————————————-

There are some things we need to solve first, before i show you any sites πŸ™‚

Event Espresso have a “member settings” section, AND Event Espresso do also have the possibility to grant courses for free IF one are logged in.

So in essence there are some “logged in” user functionality in Event Espresso. There is also a event overview for the individual user, to see, what they are registered to.

I have an event made that cost $20. That event cost $20 if im not logged in, if i am logged in it costs $0. Through the Event Overview menu i can choose for each individual couse how much the “member” price is.

There are so much functionality based on being a member, based on being logged in.

So i must excuse myself if i asked once again.

How can it be possible that Event Espresso do not handle any sort of member setting, while i can say all what i just said? πŸ™‚

I hope that we can sort this one out, because from my point of view something is missing out in this thread πŸ™‚

And regarding the picture you posted. I dont understand what the picture shows me. I see some HTML with a link that points to an URL.

But whats the meaning? πŸ™‚

Hi Morten,

Event Espresso WP User Integration (Members) addon allows you set prices foir logged in users, make events only visible to logged in users and to auto fill in some data, but it still does not handle the actual user registration, it just helps EE integrate a little better.

The settings you referred to (login and register pages) are so that if those pages are different to the default WordPress login pages, EE can update the links that it shows to users.

For example if there is a member only event, and a logged out user tries to view it they will be told they need to register or login and there are links on that page to login/register, so if your registration/login pages are not default the plugin needs to know where they are so it can send the user to the right place.

As such the plugin does not handle user registration, the looks of the login/register pages or the location of those pages.

If you do not wish to use the WordPress defaults, then you will need to either manually create a login page/system or use a third party plugin such as Theme My Login, etc.

Hello Dean,

Ok i have the same understanding now.

Just 1 thing is missing.

Through EE menu in the WordPress admin panel i can choose 2 Member Settints and input my own login page.

So i tried that. Tony also addressed this.

1) I create a new page called “logon”. Its blank.
2) I paste the full url to the Member Settings input field.

Anything else i need to do, because it dosent work.

Hi,

It works on my test server, did you enter the full URL of the log on page? http://take.ms/JMLBQ

Morten Mouritzen

Yes

2) I paste the full url to the Member Settings input field.

There is nothing on the page out of the normal WordPress stuff like comment fields and so.

Is it possible to get your login details in order to look into this?

If so, please send them via https://eventespresso.com/send-login-details/

NOTE: login details need to be Admin level and FTP details are appreciated.

Hello Dean,

So its monday again and the weekend is over.

Usually i would say that it would be fine to give admin access, but the challenge is that im working on the site all day, and you are far away. I “kinda need” to know when you are looking at it.

How can we solve that?

Also, i cant give you FTP access. The best i can say is that i installed a better WordPress Editor that you can use.

I hope that some sort of solution can be found πŸ™‚

Hi Morten,

I would be looking at the Member settings and the log in page you have created, and when would be when you send the details over, you are about 1 hour behind me based on your website location (I am in GMT +2 timezone)

FTP details are not required here, so that’s fine (I always request them as a precaution).

Hi,

I logged in and created a test event (EE TEST) as you didnΓΆt have ay memeber only events. I tested this event via a Chrome Incvognito window and it correctly showed me the login page http://take.ms/5mYr8 I clicked the Log in link and I was taken to the Logon page you had created.

This is working as intended. I left the Test page active so that you can check it yourself.

Oh i see.. in general i misunderstood what the whole custom logon page functionality was.

Thanks for showing that to me πŸ™‚
