Some colleagues mentioned that they registered for an event that’s taking place tomorrow, but hadn’t seen the usual reminder come. I checked messages, and sure enough, nothing was sent out. I looked at the event and confirmed that there was an AUEN template set and active for Registrants. I then attempted to manually trigger the cron job in hopes that the reminder would go out. That’s when I spotted something odd. I was looking for: AHEE__EventEspresso_AutomatedEventNotifications_core_tasks_Scheduler__check
but it was missing. Is that event still supposed to be present?
I am running 5.0.17.p (had to downgrade from 5.0.19.p due to grid presentation issues).
And now after looking, Upcoming Event reminders seem to have stopped 2 weeks ago. I did not touch the EventEspresso plugin, and can produce a list of other plugins that have been updated since then if necessary.

I deactivated and then reactivated the plugin. The missing event returned to the Cron listing. I’ll have to see if it works correctly for the next event.

Hi there,

My apologies for the delayed reply here, looks like you’ve already done what I would have suggested but I’ll add some more details for this.

AHEE__EventEspresso_AutomatedEventNotifications_core_tasks_Scheduler__check
but it was missing. Is that event still supposed to be present?

Yes, it is.

Sometimes if there is an error thrown during the cron job it can prevent it from ‘re-adding’ the next cron to run.

Normally I’d asked if you can you see any errors from Event Espresso in the server’s errors logs but we wont know exactly when this happened. This…

And now after looking, Upcoming Event reminders seem to have stopped 2 weeks ago.

Does narrow that down some though. Take a look as the last time the notifications triggered and then check the error logs for around that date and see if there’s any errors from EE.

Post those here and I’ll check.

I did not touch the EventEspresso plugin, and can produce a list of other plugins that have been updated since then if necessary.

This is not likely to hav been caused by a plugin update (although technically possible).

I deactivated and then reactivated the plugin. The missing event returned to the Cron listing. I’ll have to see if it works correctly for the next event.

When ou activate the plugin, any cron jobs for core and the current add-ons are readded (replacing themselves if they have already been set), so if this happens again this is the best way to get the system back up and running again.

Then check the error logs to see if there’s any errors.

If it continues to happen on any kind of pattern we can add some debugging code to your site to log the crons and hopefully narrow down whats is causing it.
