We are seeing some duplicate charges and I notice others using EE are experiencing the same. See https://eventespresso.com/topic/plugin-charging-people-twice/ I would like to know the reason and solution to fix please. Thank you |

Hello, In his case, the user did not realize that payment went through so he did resubmit it. On your case, may we know what payment method was used? did it happen to all of your customer lately? did you received the payment twice too? can you check in the message if it also generated twice? Can you also review the date and time difference of the charged. Thanks |

It seems to have happened right after the EE and PayPal was fixed a week or ago. |

Hi Chris, Can you please go through EE > Message > And check if there is any payment message sent twice? Looking forward to helping you. |

I’m really sorry for what happen. Do you still experience the problem? You can email them in support@eventespresso.com May we also know the actions you did? did you made a refund or already talked to your sponsors and guest? thanks |

In the messages, there is only one message saying Registration Approved and one message saying Payment received on 12June but this gentleman was charged twice for our event via event espresso to paypal. I still have not heard why this happened or anything. |

Hi there,
The link you are referring to here was related to OAuth and obtaining an access_token for your site to communicate with Paypal, there were no changes to how the PayPal payment method worked in order fix this. However, if someone attempted to pay in the time the between when your site could not connect to the OAuth then its possible the was an issue causing the communication between your site and PayPal to fail but still charge. With with how OAuth works that should be unlikely. Unless there was an error being thrown when generating the payment-related email, which then shows an error during checkout and prevents the user from being directed to the thank you page… so they then click the pay now button multiple times, initiating multiple charges through PayPal. Currently, we don’t have enough info to be able to tell you why this happened. Did the user see any error messages when they paid for example?
Something important to note here is that Event Espresso is installed on your own site, all of the data within that is stored within your site’s database and we don’t have any access to it at all from our end. What that means is we can’t tell you why this happened from our end as there isn’t any communication between Event Espresso and ourselves other than to validate OAuth or refresh the token (which wont help point to the issue here). So we need more info about what happened so we can dig further. Did you email any details in since Rio’s earlier reply? I can’t find any additional email threads relating to this but I can take a look if you have any more details on what happened. Any errors save in the server’s error logs around when this happened? |
