Have you guys ever encountered any recent issues or conflicts with the “Coursecutor” WordPress theme? Thanks in advance. |
Hi there, I’m not aware of any conflicts with that theme and I don’t think I’ve ever seen any reports of issues with it and Event Espresso. However, I should add that the above doesn’t mean there are no conflicts and just that we haven’t had any reports of any. Any fo the ‘course’/events etc features within the theme will most likely not work with Event Espresso events. |

Is this because they’re both “post” types or something else? |
That’s part of it yes, EE events are a custom post type of type ‘espresso_events’. Coursecutor will likely have its own ‘event’ posts (of whatever type they use) and it’s not going to know to use EE events. Then, along with just another custom pot type, a lot of the EE event data isn’t stored within custom fields like some event plugins/themes/functions, its stored within custom tables. For example the datetime date, is in a separate table, the ticket data, registrations and so on. Whatever called the event would need to ‘know’ that in order to display the relevant details using the EE models so to display the events from EE correctly it would basically need to integrate with EE. A theme that has it’s own event/course feature is very unlikely to have done that. It will most likely see EE events and be able to pull them in as any normal post but wont have access to all of the details around the event to display correctly etc. |

I see, so it sounds like that situation would require us to create an event in each system and then basically just point one system at the generated URL of another. So extra busy work with out necessarily a namespace conflict. Am I getting that right? (maybe) Are there any LMS themes that are known to integrate well with Event Espresso? Or a resource that covers the topic? (I’ll do a search too cuz I ain’t lazy but your knowledge probably exceeds what’s currently in the forums.) |

Found this. If you know of any other resources, I’m all ears. |
Pretty much, or you could edit the theme to output the EE events (and relevant data) but thats not often as easy as it sounds with some themes.
I’m not away aware of any specific LMS theme that will integrate well with EE events. So whilst it’s not a theme as such, LearnDash have an integration with Event Espresso: https://www.learndash.com/add-on/event-espresso/ So rather than looking for a LMS theme that integrates you could use ‘any’ theme and EE with LearnDash. (Note I say any as it obviously depends on what you are looking for in a theme, but point being you don’t have to use a specific LMS theme for this) |
