Coupons not working with Multiple Event Registration and Recurring Events

We have built a simple page for single event registration and multiple event ‘package’ add-to-cart (with a couple of little creative work-arounds).

You can visit the development site here

I can’t get the coupon codes to work with the multi-event shopping cart. The coupons are not working with either single events or all events in the shopping cart (the current version 3.1.28.5). I have been speaking with Chad Carlson of book-events.com and have tried implementing his files, but I still have no success.

There are still a few other tweaks to complete on this to go live, but we want to get passed this before proceeding.

If anyone can provide some insight it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Matt,

Are there any template files based on versions prior to Event Espresso 3.1.28 in /wp-content/uploads/espresso/templates? If so, these should be updated to be based on the current version. Also, in Event Espresso>General Settings under Advanced settings, there is a setting to enable discount codes in the Multi Event Registration cart that needs to be switched on.

Hi Josh,

Thanks for the quick reply.

I haven’t pulled the new files across from the update. Will I need to use the new updated files and apply the custom coding to those? I’ll pull the new files across and update.

I have the ‘apply discounts’ on in the advanced settings.

Hi Matt,

Yes you will need to pull the new files over and modify them with your changes.

3.1.29 is just around the corner so you may want to hang fire as you will need to change the template files again (we added a few shiny things)

I’ve updated to 3.1.29 (which looks great so far and has solved some of my other issues) and I have “Apply Discounts” turned on. The field for the coupon code is now showing up in the shopping cart (yay!) but it rejects my coupon codes (boo). I get the following message:
“Sorry, promotional code testcode is invalid, expired, or can not be used for the event(s) you are applying it to.”

Hi Bill,

Can you make sure that the database has been updated by deactivating and reactivating the Event Espresso plugin? Then it would be a good idea to check the event and make sure that it is set to allow promo codes.

Woo hoo! Reactivating the plugin helped me get my promotional code working. Many thanks!

Upgraded to 3.1.29.1 – copied in my custom coding (with a few tweaks) and BOOM! Promocodes working on individual events. Loving the upgrade – lots of handy little fixes to save me building them.

Thanks for a great release – looking forward to 3.2 🙂
