I just want to be sure I have this correct. The coupon code plugin is specifically for use with online coupon websites. I can’t create my own? e.g. I have a class of 20 people and I give then a flyer for the next event with a code “comeback” on it. From reading the documentation there is no way I can get this type of functionality from EE3. Or am I missing something?

Hi Morag,

What page did you read that on?

There is a promotions/discount system built into Event Espresso and you can create your own discount codes (e.g. happyspringcustomer):

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/promotional-codes/

You may be thinking of the social coupons integration which is intended for use with a service like Groupon or Living Social. Those are one-time use coupons and you can create your own coupon code there as well.

Lorenzo,

There are a number of things confusing me about this. I initially used this function but it didn’t seem to work the way I anticipated.

I entered the end date of Feb 15. Entered the discount amount ($26). Percentage: No. In the drop-down I chose option 3 (Global Promo Codes and Specific ones.) Checked the box for the code I had created.

When I tested the event, the discount showed across the board (and showed the words “Early Pricing” next to the discounted price). What I wanted was for the prior attendees to be able to enter the code and then get the discount. Those without the code would have to pay full price.

The Promotional codes don’t seem to work this way.

Hi Morag, the early bird pricing is set on a per event basis.

If you would like to use a promotion/discount code, then that would need to be created via the promotion editor. Then you would need to enable promotions for this event.

Once that is set, then a registrant will see regular pricing unless they enter a promotion code that you provide them.

The early bird option (set in the event editor) would not be needed here unless you are trying to further discount the price of the event.

Ah! Well that’s a bit confusing as it looks like its all part of the same thing. I think I have it now.
