Hi there, I am looking for a way to allow a coupon code for only 1 free ticket in the cart. How can I accomplish this?
The tickets are $5 each. I created a coupon code that offers $5 flat off the cart, but instead, it applies $5 Off to each ticket in the cart; thus making the amount owed $0.00. How can I avoid this? Can I modify the core files? What should I be looking at? I just need some guidance.

Hi,
The coupon codes work on a per ticket basis rather than the total. If you had a specific rule set for the discount, e.g. buy 5 tickets get one free, then you could use the Volume Discounts addon.
If not then it will prove more difficult. If you wanted to modify the plugin (which would not be supported by us), then I would look at includes/admin-files/coupon-management/use_coupon_code.php

Update: The Promotions add-on for Event Espresso 4 is now available. It adds the ability to apply a promotional code or a group coupon (single use) and it will discount one ticket in the cart instead of all the tickets.
