I see an addon to integrate mailchimp but have been unable to find anything that might link convertkit to the event plugin to auto assign attendees to a mailing list.
Is there something that exists for this or is there a zapier integration at all we can use to help link the two?

Hi there,
Currently, we don’t have an integration for either Convertkit or Zapier.
We do have a Zapier integration on our roadmap here:

However, we have many other features with much higher votes so this is unlikely to be released ‘soon’.
As it standard to use a newsletter feature you would need to use MailChimp or create your own custom integration with either of the above.

WPFusion provides an integration with Event Espresso

which allows you to add contacts to your CRM of choice, including Convertkit
