Hi I am considering purchasing Event Espresso for my website to handle after school class registration. I want parents to be able to:
– Register their kids for classes with a limit of 2 maximum
– Submit specific information via forms (name, age, etc.)
– Submit a digital signature to sign off on waiver forms.
– Pay online, get a receipt, etc.
– Have a lottery system so that if a class has a 20 person limit, the 20 registrants will be chosen at random. This would allow for a specific registration period instead of first-come, first serve.
Does it sound like Event Espresso would be a good solution? Based on my description, would I need any of the Premium Add Ons?
Hi Zachary, some of those project requirements are supported. However, these are not:
– Submit a digital signature to sign off on waiver forms.
– Have a lottery system so that if a class has a 20 person limit, the 20 registrants will be chosen at random. This would allow for a specific registration period instead of first-come, first serve.
Uploads during registration checkout are not currently available but it is an open feature request.
On the last requirement above, Event Espresso has a feature called admin pre-approval.
If this is used, then Event Espresso will accept registrations but they will set to a status of not approved. You could then use export the registrants and drop the list into a tool like List Randomizer (https://www.random.org/lists/). Then you could approve the first X amount of registrants.
Its not an automated solution but it is a possible workaround.
Lorenzo – Thanks for your reply! Your work-around sounds like a great solution, I appreciate it.
If we decide to do first-come, first-serve registration I’m concerned that the rush to register might crash my server. Does Event Espresso have any features to help prevent this? Or is that something that I just need to address with my hosting provider?
Hi Zachary, how do you plan on promoting events? Will there be an email newsletter to let registrants know about an event or perhaps a post on a social media network?
If you are expected hundreds of registrations per event, then this could overload the server if it happens in a short period of time.
