Conflict with native event plugin – grand photography theme

I am trying to use the native event plugin with event expresso.
the native plugin has the layout I am looking for (which I have not figured out how to create in event expresso)
When I create the event in event expresso it seems to be using the same *event* string as the native plugin – (ex: adamsdavy.com/events/axshouston; the direct link goes to the 404 error page BUT when you follow this: adamsdavy.com>experiences>AXSHouston>Get Started the event expresso page shows up – i created a page with a shortcode)
Can I set up the plugins to use different strings? event vs events? or can I disable the native event page, and use event expresso exclusively while keeping the page layout?

Hi Tony,

We received your support token form. Yes you can set Event Espresso to use a different string. May I ask is there another string you’d prefer to use other than event or events?

Hey Josh,

although it might get confusing I would like to keep the native app as “events” and us the Event Expresso string as “event” or will this work? If I need to get away from event/events then let’s use “exp” as the new string

event is already reserved because it’s the singular form of events. How about using something like upcoming-events for the string?

I’ll set it to exp for the time being while I wait for your reply.

Ahh, I see where I can change the “Slug” or what I called the “string”. This helps. Now that I have this set up – how do I update the main events page for expresso? when we use the event cart it links to a predetermined event page (on expresso) as apposed to the native app event page. must this expresso event be used to be able to add multiple registrations during registration? will this expresso event page also use the same slug we finally end up with? (currently exp)

how do I update the main events page for expresso?

Can you clarify what you mean by “update”

when we use the event cart it links to a predetermined event page (on expresso) as apposed to the native app event page

That’s expected because Event Espresso does not integrate with your other event plugin.

must this expresso event be used to be able to add multiple registrations during registration?

I’m sorry I do not understand this question. Can you explain?

will this expresso event page also use the same slug we finally end up with?

Which page?

Sorry for not being clear. Let me try again:
1.I believe Expresso has a default page where it hosts all of the events on the same page. This is found at the website URL and the universal slug for expresso. Where do I go to change the visual format of this page? (ie: do not show event dates or make photo a thumbnail)

2.When using the expresso plugin: “register for multiple events”
it has a “return to events page” button which goes to the page mentioned above. Can this link be changed to go to the third party event page? if so, will this disrupt the transaction application within expresso?
2a. I added the “register for multiple events” plugin then removed it and the error message said that I had to associate the ticket to an event

3. Asked within question 2
4. asked within question 1

Hope this is clearer

Josh did I lose you?

1. You go to Event Espresso > Events > Templates. Specifically the settings beneath Event List Pages.

2. You can change the link to another page, but if your third party page has no way of returning to the cart or or proceeding to the registration step then it could disrupt the registration process. The Multi Event Registration minicart widget can be placed within a widget area to avoid that disruption. Here’s a link to the documentation that shows how to change the URL for that link:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/ee4-multiple-event-registration-add-on/#change-list-url

You can add the code from the above documentation to a functions plugin or into your WordPress theme’s functions.php file.

Thanks Josh I appreciate the help – I will take a look.

One last thing – our registration page on mobile and ipad is not showing any information. It works fine on desktop. Might we have a setting wrong?

It wouldn’t be a setting. I checked with my iPhone and the information displays when check the registration page. To be sure though, what’s the URL that’s not showing information when it’s a mobile device?

Thanks for checking… the url is as follows:

That looks like a problem with the theme’s “Page with Background Image” Page Template. Do you see how the
http://adamsdavy.com/registration/axsnewyork/
event page does render on mobile devices? The New York event uses the Default template. You change the page template setting within the Houston event to something other than the “Page with Background Image” Page Template or you could contact the theme developer to see if they have a fix for that template.

Josh,

Thank you very much. I thought it was something we did with settings. Your help has been extremely helpful. Worth the extra money we paid.
Can I return here for future support questions or go to support forum?
Again many thanks!
