Howdy all: When registrations and payments are made, confirmations are not sent to me, to alert me of what classes (and what dates,) have been booked. I do get an email from Paypal, informing me that someone has paid, but it doesn’t have much useful data (other than the customer’s name,) to alert me of what class, and what date has been booked. Our payment processor is Paypal. I installed “Check Email,” and successfully sent out test emails to people, so I know the server can send out emails. My Espresso version is: 3.1.36.P In general settings, I have “Send registration confirmation emails before payment is received?” set to NO. If I set this to YES, would that solve the issue? If it does solve it, won’t I have an issue with customers not paying, yet still receiving confirmations? Is there anything else I can try?

The admin email is sent out at the same time as the registration confirmation email. You might want to use a service such as postmark or Mandrill to keep a record of all emails sent out, or a plugin like WP SMTP linked to a gmail account. |

Hi Sidney: There are no alternate emails being set for the individual events. The contact email in general settings has been double checked (and is correct.) I’m not quite sure how to operate WP SMTP. I tried downloading it, and forwarding it through a gmail account, and I got “some errors found,” error (what an incredibly vague error code,) so I gave up and uninstalled the plugin. What is another way to test to ensure that emails are going out? |
Hi mvandergaag, With the WP SMTP Plugin you setup like this http://d.pr/i *gmail account here is you gmail email address, and the password is you gmail account password. You could also try a plugin such as Check Email to send a test email using however WP is setup to send them. Personally I would recommend using one of the services Sidney recommended (Postmark or Mandrill) with the EE Transactions plugin to send all emaisl through the service (free below a certain amount) |

A little update on the issue… I get a notification from paypal that a payment is received, but when I look at the registrations online in the event overview, I see a notification that payment is pending for the customer and most of the time the numbers of attendees are wrong – One reservation produced a notice from paypal that stated a payment for 3 people had been received. But when I look at the attendees it shows 6 people and payment for both are pending but online on my paypal account it is showing payment processed and completed for 3 people. They must have attempted payment twice but this is going to cause me much confusion with numbers – is this an issue with paypal? Is this why I’m not receiving confirmations emails? |

You might want to try a plugin like this: http://wordpress.org/plugins/email-log/ to generate a log of all outgoing emails. If you have it set up to send out the confirmation email after payment, but you are having trouble receiving IPN messages from Paypal, then that might be why you are not seeing the emails. The most common problems and solutions for dealing with paypal’s IPN can be seen here: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/how-to-set-up-paypal-ipn/ |

Alrighty. I resolved the IPN issue (turns out, it was turned off…silly me.) Now, all the incoming reservations are showing as completed…everything is good. but… I’m still not receiving confirmation emails from EE *on a side note* I notice that my clients are receiving emails from “WORDPRESS” for their confirmations… is there a way to change the header to something more professional (like the company name?) |
Admin’s should receive a notification by default. Currently we do not actually have an option to disable admin emails.
If you go to Event Espresso -> General Settings. Look for ‘Email Settings’. Within you you should see ‘Use fancy email headers?’ set that to Yes and save the options Setting that option to yes will swap in the name of your organization for the from name. |
