It takes a while to receive the confirmation email after I complete a registration on Event Espresso. This is happening just with Event Espresso and all other transactional emails come though immediately. Do you have any idea what might be going on here?
There is a ‘message queue’ system within Event Espresso which means emails take about 10 minutes to work through the queue.
The queue system has 2 steps to a message sending and each task is set on a 5 minute interval:
1. Queued for generation – the message has been triggered and sitting in the queue waiting to pull in all of the data to generate that message.
2. Waiting to send – the message has gone through the above step and is sitting waiting for the ‘send’ function to run.
The above relies on WP_CRON to function which means it needs a page to load on your site to trigger the job, meaning it can take longer than 5 minutes for each of those to trigger if the site doesn’t get much traffic.
Payment related emails skip the queue and instantly send.
Thank you for explaining it so thoroughly. I appreciate it.
