We’re hosting a one-day conference. There will be four main blocks during the day. Each block will offer 3-4 sessions.
I need Early Bird and Standard rates for two different registration types (at different prices). I need everyone registered to choose their sessions (one in each time block). I need to be able to shut off (either automatically or manually) sessions that are full. Session choices should not be editable by the user, but should be editable by us. I need to be able to check-in people on-site via iPad/iPhone/Android. Ideally, I would be able to check them out as well at the end of the day (required to grant appropriate course units). I need a variety of custom questions. I need to process payments through Paypal.
Ideally, I would be able to create individual agendas as well as nametags that we could scan into the check-in/out software. We would also like to integrate with mailchimp.
From what I’ve seen on your site, most of this is possible. However, in reading the forum, it sounds like I may need to require folks to purchase a membership before they choose their sessions and this sounds somewhat overly complicated. If you have a standing example of this for me to look at, I’d greatly appreciate it.

I really appreciate your guidance on whether or not your software will fit our needs and, if so, if EE3 or 4 is the better option.

I forgot, I also need to cap the total number of tickets sold. There’s no cap on each ticket type.

Hi Shawna,

Currently EE3 has the ticket scanning feature, but we do plan on adding ticket scanning for EE4, and EE4 has a manual check in feature currently.

EE4 has better handling of Multiple sessions (with its multiple datetime feature).

I’m not sure why you think you’ll need to require membership before choosing sessions, that’s something that would be optional.

I can recommend signing up for the free demo account over for the EE4 demo site here:

When you go to set up a demo event you can follow this guide in our documentation:
