How do I setup the pricing options in EE?
For example: If someone is selecting a Full Conference Pass which costs $100, but they also want to include a Pre-Conference pass at an additional $25 after they selected Full Conference Pass. How would I go about setting this up?

Hi Pat,
There are a couple of ways you can do this. Since we don’t have an “eCommerce” solutions, per se, you can either add the Pre-Conference as individual events, then use the Multiple Event Registration add-on to allow the users to add the events to a cart.

Or, you can use the Price Modifier add-on that can be found in the Pre-Release section of your download. You’ll need to opt-in to the pre-release channel first. The Price Modifier allows you to set up custom questions that can increase the price of the ticket.

Let us know if you have anymore questions.

I installed the modifier plugin but it seems not to work. I’ve tried creating a new field but it never appears in the registration. Only first last, and email fields appear, not sure why that is.

Secondly, how will this modifier work if I select, say, a One Day Conference Pass price instead of Full Conference Pass price and using modifier decide to add Pre Conference price at a which would be at a different cost? The modifier should depend on the chosen Conference Pass type.

To add a new question to an event, you have to add the question to a question group, then add that group to the event.
You might be better off just creating 4 different price points:

  1. One day pass
  2. One day pass with pre-conference pass
  3. Full conference pass
  4. Full conference pass with pre-conference pass

The examples I provided are too simple perhaps. The conference registration I’m setting up is a bit more complicated because there are exhibitor passes, one day passes, full conference passes with the option to attend pre-conf or not. Lunch or Banquet attendance only, Early bird pricing that applies to full conference passes but not One day passes. To make this properly work, the sign up process has to be conditional or divided into couple of pages. For example, when somebody selects a Full Conference pass, and they click next, on the next page it asks them if they want to include Pre conference attendance. But if the person is attending Pre-conf only, on the next page it asks them whether they want to add conference lunch or banquet on top of that. So different things need to be applied depending on the pass type chosen.

Creating multiple events and then using a multiple events plugin to add them all together will not work for me because I bought this plugin in order to work with multiple events during the year.

I need a work around for this problem since I already bought the plugin.

Sounds like you’ll at least need to break it up with a one-day pass being one event and a full conference pass being a different event, since they have different early bird options. Then the price modifier will be able to add different prices for the pre-conference pass to them.

I’m having issues with price modifier plugin. First it does not accept |$0 as an option. And second If I do have an option say Yes|30.00 It does not add $30 to the order. The confirmation page still shows old price. Not sure if this is a bug, but thusfar it not working and I need to know how I can get this issue resolved

Thanks in advance

I’ve also discovered that the |0 option does appear in the user edit page that you click on from the confirmation page. So there is certainly a bug with the way it displays on the event registration page, and user edit page,

Ok, more updates on the price modifers bugs. The price does not get modified in the group options. But it does work when I specify it on the individual registration. Another words. If I want to register 3 people for the conference including myself. the price modification option will work for me, but not the other people I’m adding to the event.

Hi,

The price modifier add on doesn’t allow zero price modifications. I have requested a small fix to allow these as they are quite popular. But currently a zero price will not be shown.

Regarding the registration, are you using Multiple Event Registration or just a normal registration?

I tested it here and with the primary attendee having the question it adds that option for the additional attendees too http://d.pr/i/2KfQ

I tried using multi-registration plugin, but your documentation gives absolutely 0 indication on how to configure and use that addon. How do you even work with that thing? I have setup several events, and thats it, now I’m stock.

The Multiple Events Registration adds an “Add to Cart” button to the event on the event list, so that users can add several events to their shopping cart, then select the number of tickets for each event in their shopping cart.
