Completed status for no quantity

Hello again. It seems we are having more weird issues with EE.

I have a customer who, according to him, only added himself to the wait list.

Looking through the registrations, It seems that this customer had somehow secured a spot in our event with a quantity of 0, price 0 and total 0. Underneath it, it shows the registration again with the price and total $0.

We went ahead and cancelled this registration.

Now, looking at another registration for comparison, which is correct, we see what is supposed to be showing, the registration, the quantity (1), the price and the total.

Screen shot one shows a registration where the user claims that he only signed up for the wait list and not an event.

How can a registration get through showing 0 for price, quantity and totals and be approved?

My client is getting nervous that there seems to be a number if weird issues happening as per my other support tickets.
