Hi,

We had a strange booking come through the other day with no reg data, no payment and payment marked as unknown. Also when I click on ‘view receipt’ or ‘view transaction’ it takes you to a random page on our website.

Should we be concenred of a hacker attempt? How did this transaction get through and be marked as complete with no data and no payment.

Other bookings have been coming in fine around this one.
We are using PayPal express, Bank Deposit and Stripe payment options.

Hi Adam,

Can you confirm if no registration, transaction, or message has been generated for the events?

Also, please share a screen-recording of the issue through https://www.loom.com/.

Looking forward to helping you.

Hi there,

Did you have a registration also made around the same time?

Do you have caching enabled on the site/server?

That registration has no attendee assigned to it and no line items, I’ve seen this before when a registrant manages to do something really odd with the checkout or somehow creates another session overwriting the previous one (so you end up with Transaction 111 at the beginning, the break the session and then you have Transaction 112 crated and the line items then update to link to TXN_ID 112, leaving TXN 111 broken in the way you’ve shown).

I’m fairly certain this is not a hack attempt but rather a broken session, is relatively rare but can happen.
