I want to set up a site for car pooling at a local school. This seems to me an event based system, but allowing users to create events where they offer a certain number of seats in the car at a time going to a destination. So my question is whether event espresso can be configured in such a way that users can create these “events” (car share offers) and other users can see when lifts are available on a calendar and “book a place” ie take one of the seats – intil all seats are gone. Would also be great to email the driver and the passengers details of each other once all confirmed.

Does this “fit” within the capability of your system – I have tried a number of others and allowing users to create events appears to be the biggest issue….

Hi Mark,

Whilst this is definitely a different use case, I feel Event Espresso could provide most if not all of the functionality you need.

Right now you would need the Roles and Permissions Pro (Roles and Permissions Basic is required) add on to enable you to give registered users (with the site) ability to create events.

We will be launching a Front End event creation add on soon so once that is done, logged in users wont event need to go to the dashboard to create events.

Please note that we do not provide functionality for dealing with site registrations or logins, you would need to use the default WordPress system or a third party plugin such as S2Member.

Events can have the max attendees (passengers in this case) limited and the event will close once those spaces are filled.

Would also be great to email the driver and the passengers details of each other once all confirmed.

Currently no, this isnt possible unless you manually add the details to an email and email the Event Attendees.

Let me know if you have any further questions!

Thanks for this – what is the ETA on the front-end event creation add-on, as this would be a must have I think!

Hi Mark,

It is still undergoing tests at the moment but we hope to release it in the next few weeks as part of a version release.
