Is there a way in EE4 to allow authenticated users (but not admins) to create events? Something like the roles and permissions for EE3 or WP User Integration? If there is, can things like the actual registration process be deactivated, so that the community could create an event that would be displayed in the events listing but not be able to take registrations for that event? Has anyone done anything like this?

WP User Integration + User Role Editor plugin or Members plugin for non-admins to create events. However, I’m not sure how to stop people from registering altogether (and essentially create read-only events).

Hi there,

You don’t need the WP User Integration add-on for the above 🙂

The roles and permissions add-on is effectively baked into EE4 core as it has tons of capability checks throughout the plugin to allow you to limit access to various sections.

So you could create a user account that has access to their own events with no _others capabilities and only EE core capabilities (so can not access other areas of the dashboard)

I have an example of creating your own roles to do this here: http://take.ms/WcoqG

That plugin adds 2 user roles, Event Organizer (only has access to their own events and data), Events Manager (has the same access to EE as admin but does not have access to the Dashboard). Take a look within those roles for some pointers.

If there is, can things like the actual registration process be deactivated, so that the community could create an event that would be displayed in the events listing but not be able to take registrations for that event?

This will take some customization.

There is a settings within the events to set if the ticket selector should be displayed. You could force that to default to NO and then only allow admins with a certain capability access to that metabox/setting so they can edit the event and enable registrations if needed.
