Combine 'add to cart' and 'specify quantity'

Hi there,

I am organizing a festival and use EventEspresso to sell tickets. Besides tickets, we’re also selling consumption coints online. In EE, I have made this the second event. Using the Multiple Event Registration plug-in, this works fairly well.

However, the current set-up is a bit tedious. Users have to go through multiple steps: first add purchaes to their cart, then specify quantities and then register. I would like these first two steps to be combined, by
1) skipping the page where people add tickets to their carts, but immediately go to the cart overview (where all available items appear)
2) extending the functionality of the first page with a dropdown-menu to select the quantity and then skip the cart overview page.

I have no idea which one is easier to achieve, but I am hoping someone here can point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance,
Bram

Hi Bram,

There is a shortcode parameter combination that you can use that will get you fairly close to #1.

You can add something like this to a page:

[ESPRESSO_CART_LINK event_id="1-2" anchor="Register Now" direct_to_cart=1 moving_to_cart="Redirecting to cart..."]

You’ll likely need to swap out “1-2” with the event ID’s of the events you’d like to have automatically appear in the cart overview.

Hi Josh,

Thanks! Funny enough, I came across that same solution myself a few hours ago. I have some more related questions though, maybe you can help me with those as well.

1) For my event registration, I allow multiple attendees. However, just selecting ‘0’ attendees in the dropdown is not seen as not attending the event. People actively have to remove it from their carts (using the red button), whereas I would say that selecting ‘0’ would be enough. (Also, because people might accidentily remove events from their carts and than have to start over again.)
2) Right now, when people proceed to the registration page (having selected their products), the form refreshes, but the page does not reload. This way, it is not possible to add texts to these separate forms (selecting products / registering). Or, put differently, I do not see how I can achieve this.

I don’t know if this is the right place to pose these questions. If there is a better place, could you please split the topic and move it to the right part of the forums? Thanks in advance!

Kind regards,
Bram

Hi Bram,

I’ll follow up with each of your comments below:

1) For my event registration, I allow multiple attendees. However, just selecting ’0? attendees in the dropdown is not seen as not attending the event. People actively have to remove it from their carts (using the red button), whereas I would say that selecting ’0? would be enough. (Also, because people might accidentily remove events from their carts and than have to start over again.)

In order to make that happen, the code would have to be refactored. So I don’t really have a solution for you on that one.

2) Right now, when people proceed to the registration page (having selected their products), the form refreshes, but the page does not reload. This way, it is not possible to add texts to these separate forms (selecting products / registering). Or, put differently, I do not see how I can achieve this.

The forms get filled out on the next page, after they click the “Enter Attendee Information” button.
