Hello !

I have Event Espresso – Version 4.9.63.p

I was searching around, and looks like there should be a Clean up Old Messages under Messages->Settings .. But I do not see anything there. Not sure what the issue is ??

Thanks,
Amit

More Info –

We have a multisite wordpress, and EE is not the main website. As per my previous conversation with Josh, the license-key is put into the main website.

And, I DO see the clean up Old messages on the Main website, but not under the EE website. And I set the one under main website to delete everything older than 3 months, but it does not seem to be working. All the messages are still there.

Would it harm something if I manually delete the records from wp_2_esp_messages from mysql ?

Thanks,
Amit

Hi Amit,

After you make the settings change it will require some time before the messages will be removed because the old message clean up will happen as a scheduled task. You could end up doing some harm if you go in and start deleting rows from the database.

Hi Josh,

So it looks like the cleanup has not happened yet. I set up the “cleanup” to 3 months or older on Friday morning, on the “main wordpress site” where this option is available.

But nothing has been deleted. I see all the messages still there in my “actual wordpress site” .. ??

Thanks,
Amit

You have messages in the queue that are older than 3 months, right? (Just checking as it sounds like you do)

If you add a plugin such as WP Control and then go to Tools -> Cron events.

Look for ‘AHEE__EE_Messages_Scheduler__cleanup’, what does it show for ‘last run’?

LOL ! Yes, I do have messages that are older than 3 months ..

I installed the plugin. It didn’t show any ‘last run’ column. However, I tried to do a “Run Now” and that didn’t seem to delete anything ..

I installed the plugin. It didn’t show any ‘last run’ column.

Which means the cron hasn’t run.

However, I tried to do a “Run Now” and that didn’t seem to delete anything ..

Did the ‘last run’ column update after you clicked that?

There is no Last Run column, but there is a next run column, and here is the entire row –

AHEE__EE_Messages_Scheduler__cleanup None

EE_Messages_Scheduler::cleanup()

2019-02-05 00:00:00 (5 hours 56 minutes) Once Daily

When you click the “Run Now” link for AHEE__EE_Messages_Scheduler__cleanup, that should delete every message from before 3 months ago. What’s the date on the oldest message logged in Event Espresso > Messages?
