Hi – we’re desperate for a plugin to register classes because Google Forms is just not cutting it. We’re ready to buy a plugin today in order to configure tomorrow and open registrations next week. We have what I think are pretty basic needs that hopefully EE can cover. We offer classes for kids on a per semester basis. Parent’s register and provide kids’ names & ages. Payment is not per class but per family – class fees are paid directly to teachers later. These are the specific needs, to the best of my knowledge: 1. Classes are offered one day a week, at specific time slots & rooms. Registering for two classes at the same time should be possible because different children may be in different classes. If EE can cover these bases we’re ready to buy right now! Thank you ๐ |
Event Espresso and Event Espresso 4 would probably work, though they function differently. One question I have though is how do you set the price if you want the price to be the same whether they register one or multiple kids, or a full family? With Event Espresso 3: you would have to setup each class as a different event. Then use the Multiple Event Registration addon (https://eventespresso.com/product/espresso-multiple/) to allow people to register for multiple events at the same time. Again, the challenge will be how you charge the right price when you have multiple events…where do you attach the fee? I would probably recommend using Event Espresso 4 over Event Espresso 3. With Event Espresso 4 you can setup a different ticket for each class room, but keep it all the same event. You can have ONE ticket that charges the fee, but then let them register as many tickets as they want. You can also have different types of tickets, some that are priced lower initially but then expire and are replaced by a higher priced ticket. Does that make sense? Again, I would probably recommend Event Espresso 4: https://eventespresso.com/pricing/?ee_ver=ee4 |

Much thanks for a reply over the weekend ๐ The fee is just simply per family to the co-op itself, while class fees are paid directly to teachers on the first day of class. Is it possible to make a required ticket/product? Currently the method is just ‘send us the reg fee by Paypal’ as part of the steps to register. I take it from your response that the other needs, like different registrants per class, getting registrant ages, etc, are not issues? |
|
Also – is it possible for people to edit their registrations after submitting & paying? |
With Event Espresso 4 you can set a ticket as required, so you could require your co-op fee to be required, and then subsequent tickets can have their own prices based on the fees of the class. Are you collecting co-op fees at the time of registration? You can give people payment options, and the option they choose will apply to the entire transaction (not in part for the co-op fee and nothing for the class fees). In the email confirmations, yes, people can click a link that sends them back to your website to update the answers to their registration form questions. Collecting attendee ages and such are controlled the the event global registration form. So, you can add or remove questions to collect the information you need. The registration forms though will be the same for all the tickets of a single event. |

Thanks Garth. We are asking for co-op fees to be part of the registration process. Can classes have a size, where registration closes once the limit is reached? And is there anything like a waiting list? |
ok. so one thing you will have to figure out is how to display prices for the individual classes, without adding an official price, otherwise people will be required to pay the class fees during registration…OR make it clear that a class ticket is really just an RSVP and the price is $0 so they don’t have to pay the class fees during registration. Each ticket (whether it is for co-op fees or classes) can have their own limits. There is logic that only Approved registrations count toward registration limits, so your class reservations (RSVPs) might operate best if you automatically approve them, or have someone frequently and manually approving them. With regards to a waiting list and EE4. I generally just recommend a free Wait List ticket. So regardless if there are tickets available or not, people can sign up and be put into a list to be contacted later. |

We can display class prices in the class names like so
That should take care of it. The wait list may be overkill, we’ll probably just skip it. Trying to think of any more questions… |
Yes, that would be a good way to approach the ticket prices for classes. There is also a large description area for each ticket where you can add all the details you want. It expandable and closeable on the ticket selector. |
