I have check payments as an option and when I receive a check and switch the status to the registrant to “approved” the payment remains “incomplete” What am I missing about check payments and registering those payments as “complete” once the check is received?

Hi there,

As you’ve found, the registration status can be set independently of the transaction status and updating the registration does not update the transaction.

You need to add the Check payment into the transaction to complete it (which can also update the registration status at the same time, but that’ll make more sense when you see where the payment is added).

You need to open up the transaction for that registration, so edit the registration (Event Espresso -> Registrations -> {click on registraion}) and click the ‘View Transaction’ button on that page (clicking on the ‘TXN Date’ value for that specific registration in Event Espresso -> Registrations takes you to the same location).

Click the apply payment button and you’ll see something like this:

Go through each of the values and make sure they are correct, set the method of payment to Cheque and payment status to accepted.

Apply the payment to All registrations in the group (thats the default anyway) and you can set EE to change the Registration Status if needed (it should default to ‘Approved’ but you can set to ‘Leave the same’ if you’ve already done that).

Under ‘Send Related Messages’ if you leave ‘Payment Message’ checked EE will trigger the ‘Payment Received’ message when you submit, if you also check the registration messages they get whichever registration status message you’ve set.

Click Apply Payment and it will apply that to the transaction, setting it status to complete.
