Check in timestamp

Hello Josh & Team

We successfully completed our event (thanks for all your help) and managed to scan 100% of all attendees for 2 out of 3 of the sessions, so we’re pleased!

However, some of our mobile phone’s cameras (when scanning the QR codes) were of questionable quality, and the user found that the scan popped back with the dreaded red cross (on continuous scanning, not the scanin/scanout option). I wondered whether she’d actually already successfully scanned the ticket, and was effectively scanning same ticket for the second time ..

I wanted to look at a timestamp of checkin to see whether it was microseconds before now (in which case we’d conclude we had a problem with our hardware), or whether, say, the same ticket had been scanned 5 minutes beforehand, in which case we’d be looking at ticket fraud in the form of a duplicate ticket.

I found this previous thread and tried searching for the timestamp field you suggested via EE->Registrations-> find a check and then see the timestamp field (?), but just can’t find it. https://eventespresso.com/topic/add-attendees-on-app/

Please could you let me know how we can, while scanning, quickly check the just checkedin timestamp for a ticket so that we can identify, if previously checkedin, exactly when that was?

Thank you.

Dee

Hi Dee,

If the apps were actually set to continuous scanning a valid ticket would have been checked out instead of getting a red x/Registration denied message.

One option available in the apps is switch to “Look up” mode, then scan the ticket again and it will display the current check-in or check-out status.

While the apps themselves do not have the means to display timestamps of check-ins and outs, if you go to the WordPress dashboard, then Event Espresso > Registrations > Check-ins you can get all of the check in timestamps for each registration.

Hi Josh

Thanks for your reply. I went to Event Espresso > Registrations > Check-ins and I can not see any timestamps either on that page, or when opening an individual checked in record. Could you tell me exactly where I’d see it please?

Thanks
Dee

The timestamps for the last check-in/check-out are listed directly under the attendee name. You’ll need to select an event, then select the datetime to see the checkins for that event & datetime.

Then, when you click on the last check-in/check-out record it will open a page with all check-ins/check-outs for that ticket.

Okay, thanks Josh. That’s very helpful.
