Some of the German translations are a little odd. Im having trouble finding the correct slots in the po file editing it with Po-edit. For example I want to change the wording in the button „proceed to registration“ – how can i do it?
furthermore there is something english showing up in a yellow box before payment – i also cant find this text in poedit…

That string could be from a couple of locations and translated a couple of ways. Which location are you looking at currently?
It could be either Proceed to %s or Proceed to Registration, see:

Which string? Are you sure its not from within the payment method it self?
Go to Event Espresso -> Payment methods -> {payment method}
Is the English text saved there?
