Cart and event id issues

Hi.

I am using [ESPRESSO_CART_LINK] in the body of an event to force use of cart as I want to ensure the user than picks up a connected event which I am also placing in the original event as [ESPRESSO_CART_LINK event_id=”level-1-xxxxx” direct_to_cart=1 moving_to_cart=”Add part 2 of course…”]

The result is that I get a two Register links in the event description and I can add the two items to the cart. The issue is that the second item (using event_id) is displaying a different event completely (and I have triple checked event_id several times!).

The second event that is displayed has a very different event_id, category and date so quite perplexed.

I have cleared cache (Chrome) and no effect.

Any ideas?

I am trying to ensure that when a user selects one event they also select a second event (diff dates) and using cart to promote (ideally force) this.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Nick,

This is an easy one, you are using the Event Unique ID not the Event ID. If you have a look at the event overview, on the left should be a number in the column ID. Thats what you need to use

You also may not want to use the redirect (moving to cart)

Doh! Late night…. thanks 🙂

Is there an easy way to suppress register info then?

Sorry not sure what you mean by that

Apologies. When you see an event you have the description and then the registration info below after dates etc. Can that be suppressed and only use cart instead ?

Ahh I see, well the best way to do that in my mind is to use a list or table format. Currently theres no way to just use the cart, items still need to be added to it.

The Custom Files addon has the [ESPRESSO_TABLE] shortcode to create a well, table. It will need some work though as that add on supplies code that needs to be built on, its not ready to go, columns need changing to suit and you will no doubt prefer to change the register test to add to cart or similar.

Other than that you could modify the event_list_display.php to show a list of events with less information (eg title and link)

Ahh ok, thanks. I can live with adding to cart so I just need to hide the Register info for the main event.

In the event itself you have options on the right, find “Display description?” and select no and update the event. That will turn off the description on the registration page itself
