So I successully customized single event pages by placing the single-espresso_events.php file in my child theme folder. However, WHen I make changes to the archive-espresso_events.php file in the child theme the changes don’t seem to take effect. Am I missing something here?
I ended up solving my customization issues through CSS after all so let’s call this one resolved.
However, in case a future user searches and finds this topic, No I’m not using multi-site, yes I have the shortcode used properly, yes my events archive uses that php file. For some reason changes to that file were not overriding the defaults.
Which is an actual page on his site and does not use archive-espresso_events.php to output the details. It has the [ESPRESSO_EVENTS] shortcode within that page so outputs a list of events, but again does not use that template file.
Would be the default EE event list output for that site (it depends on the permalink setup what the URL of the site will be), that output will use archive-espresso_events.php template as its an archive of EE events.
I’m not sure why Patricks changes were not showing on his site but changing the above template would not change the output on /events/ for that site.
