Can't delete a cancelled registration

[I see several very similar tickets, but the problem doesn’t seem to be addressed.] We have a long list of registrations for past and upcoming events (courses). Some are paid, many not. Among them are quite a few “Cancelled” entries (presumably the guy changed his mind before selecting a payment method, in which case I would expect the entire registration to be deleted automatically. But it isn’t.) My problem is that if the same person has made a valid registration for a different course, I’m not allowed to delete the “Cancelled” registration. So it stays cluttering up my list.
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING CAREFULLY. On 17.9. Thomas Nufer (I have the screen shots if you want them) started signing up for a course on the 9.10. The Reg Code was 222114-80-1-52d9. But he cancelled the registration. Later the same day he started signing up for a similar course on the 28.9. The Reg Code was 222114-103-1-e19f. But he also cancelled that registration. Then he successfully signed up for the course on the 9.10. and paid by Stripe. The Reg Code was 222114-80-1-79e0. Now, when I try to delete one or other of the cancelled registrations, I (sometimes) get the error message: “The registration for Thomas Nufer could not be trashed because it has payments attached to the related transaction…” When I click on “View transaction details” for any one of the 3 registrations, it always shows the first one (222114-80-1-52d9) and shows the payment as being associated with that cancelled registration. So I can’t delete the cancelled ones. This is not an isolated case.

On review, I realise the registrations originally had the status “Abandoned”. It changed to “Cancelled” when I cancelled them. But I still can’t delete them.

Hi there,

Can I take a look in the admin to view the registrations and see if I can see what happened? If so you can send temporary login details using this form:

https://eventespresso.com/send-login-details/

On review, I realise the registrations originally had the status “Abandoned”. It changed to “Cancelled” when I cancelled them.

Registrations can’t have a status of Abandoned, that’s a transaction status – http://take.ms/sIScs

Transactions can’t have a status of Cancelled (Cancelled is a Registration Status) so it’s a different section that is changing.

I’m guessing you had a registration with a Reg Status of Pending Payment and a Transaction status of ‘Abandoned’ like above, then you updates the reg status to Cancelled, which will also update the Transaction status (in this example it would change the txn status to complete) – http://take.ms/sSI7G

I’m not trying to be nit picky with the above but the reg and txn statuses show at what point in the reg process the registration is at etc and if we mix those up when explaining it can get fairly confusing to follow for all parties involved.

Hi there,

The opening post sounded like you have 3 completely separate registrations that have somehow been merged onto a single transaction after the user registered 3 times (which would mean the site has some serious issues if that’s the case).

That isn’t the case here and although you have mutliple registrations assigned to a transaction, whats has actually happened is the original registration was ‘moved’ using the Attendee Mover Add-on. What that add-on does is cancel the original registration and create a new registration assigned to the same transaction, the new registration is on the new ticket/class etc.

So in the case of Thomas Nufer he registered onto a course, then his original registration was ‘moved’ (so the original registration is cancelled and a replacement created on the same transaction), then again the ‘new’ registration was moved once again to another course (so again the ‘new’ registration was cancelled and another replacement created)….

Meaning Thomas Nufer now has 3 registrations assigned to his transaction, the original, the replacement and the replacement of the replacement.

You can’t remove the cancelled registration in those cases as they keep a record of where the registration is from so the current behaviour you are seeing with the attendee mover add-on is expectd.
