Cannot Authorize Square Plugin

Square won’t accept credit card payments on this site. This has happened in the recent past but reauthorization worked that time. This time I keep getting the message “Authorization health check failed with error: “This request could not be authorized.” Please try to re-authorize (reConnect) for the Square payment method to function properly.” I’ve tried reauthorizing 3 times and received this message each time. I deactivated WP Easy Cart in case there was a conflict but that did not resolve the issue.

Hi there,

When do you see the “This request could not be authorized.” error, please?

Is that on the popup that shows when you click to connect Square?

If you can walk through the steps you are taking I’ll check into this further to see if I can find anything.

I currently have square deactivated. When I activate it I get the message. “Authorization health check failed with error: “This request could not be authorized.” Please try to re-authorize (reConnect) for the Square payment method to function properly.”
I have a screenshot video if you want me to upload it.

Oh so that means your getting that error on what we call the health check request (its a request sent when the PM is active to confirm your Square connection is valid).

The problem wit that is response your getting back is simply ‘This request could not be authorized.’ which is useless for troubleshoot this.

Can I take a look at the site? I’d like to add some debug code to the health check request and see if I can get any more details on it, for that I’ll need both WP-Admin and FTP details, if that’s ok you can send those over using this form:

Thank you, so I’ve cleared out the Square meta data save within the payment method and also updated the Suqare payment method to the latest version we have available.

Can you please re-connect your Square account, activate the payment method in:

Event Espresso -> Payment Methods -> Square.

Then hit the ‘Connect with Square’ button again and log into your Square account.

Do you still get an error from the health check after that?
